Aladdin + Rick by Lovers Of Love Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Brought together by a common Facebook friend, we discovered that while our life journeys (city kid/farm boy) were vastly different, those differences provided a nice balance that complimented each other.

We both share common backgrounds and interests in real estate, politics, and entertainment. We love being dads to our Havapoo Freddy and working on home improvement projects. Most importantly, we make each other laugh.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our November wedding was magical and perfect. Our wedding goal was to keep it simple, fun, and intimate. The mountainside venue showcased the beautiful views of Palm Springs and the valley. The stunning flowering gardens provided a natural backdrop that complemented the spectacular views.

The historic O’Donnell House had a timeless quality both inside and out that felt elegant and welcoming at the same time. The outdoor spaces blended seamlessly with the classic period interior to create a natural flow between spaces. All of this made for a great backdrop that Dana & Nate captured.

Tell us about your main outfits:

We wore classic tuxedos that were accessorised with heirloom cufflinks, matching bow ties, fun suspenders, and matching socks that read “So you don’t get cold feet”.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Favourite and memorable moments would include descending the staircase into the garden filled with family and friends overlooking the mountains and beautiful valley below as “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack was playing. Rick’s sister Sue made a memorable toast that was light & funny setting the tone for the evening.  Prior to getting ready, we dined on a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken (extra crispy) just to keep our energy up. Word of advice; for a more drama-free wedding experience, consider not inviting your ex…enough said!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Make the wedding planning fun (we started planning ours 6 weeks out) , enjoy the process, and don’t sweat the details.  Above all, marry someone you not only love but also like.
