Amelia + Michael by Maegan Brown Moments

We fell for each other’s love of travel, adventure, laughter and respect for family/each other.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Michael and I are young lovers of life, travel, adventure, family and friends. We live each day to the fullest and are always making each other laugh.

Michael works as a site supervisor in the trade, and I am a Destination Wedding Planner at Easy Weddings @easyweddings.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Michael and I met roughly 8 years ago through mutual friends on a very drunken easter long weekend, and there was an instant connection we could not deny. We spent the entire weekend together with friends, drinks, dinner dates and lots of dancing/laughter. Both of us had recently come out of quite serious relationships, so we attempted to take things really slowly, but clearly, we could not stay away from each other (even though at times we tried), and Michael proposed 7 years later on a trip to Bali.

We fell for each other’s love of travel, adventure, laughter and respect for family/each other.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

Fairly immediate, we spent a lot of time together in the beginning and travelled a lot with friends, which just brought us even closer. We had some time apart within the 8 years, which was needed to grow individually and find our way back to each other for the long term.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Yes, Michael and I went away for a 10-day trip to one of our favourite places, Bali. A couple of days in, Michael proposed after a romantic dinner and drinks back at our hotel room, which was a perfect intimate moment. The next day, I made him go and look at Wedding venues for the big celebration in Bali after our legal commitment in Melbourne.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

I would say the reception dinner, we splurged on the menu, drinks and venue to ensure our families/close friends had a great time that could then flow on for us to have drinks on the venue’s rooftop and Michael and I then stayed the night at the hotel afterwards.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

There was nothing stressful on the day. Everything ran so smoothly and perfectly; we could not have asked for anything better.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

There is no unique story. I was adamant that I wanted to be in a white suit—very chic and Melbournesk.

Everyone thought my suit was designer which made me laugh, it was an incredible find on Meshki for under $200.00. You don’t have to spend thousands to look stylish ladies!

Michael spent much more than I did on his outfit haha.
