When it came to our wedding, we wanted it to be intimate and feel as fun and relaxed as possible. We were so lucky to be able to hold our special day at a new luxury boutique hotel, Castle Elvira, which our good friends have opened in Puglia. One element we were happy to splurge on was incredible flowers by our phenomenally talented friend Emma Palais and, of course, the stunning photographs by Taylor & Porter.

Quite a few things didn’t go to plan over the wedding weekend but perhaps that is to be expected given guests had travelled so far. But we were just happy to have everyone together in such a magical place. I was on the hunt for a wedding dress that really felt like me and didn’t feel too overdone. But everything I tried on made me feel like someone else.

The short Miu Miu dress was incredible but I knew I wanted to save that for the party. With the wedding only a few weeks away, I dug out this 1930s vintage dress from my studio stock. Around 15 years ago, I bought this dress from a seller in the US to add to my vintage collection.

Although it was handmade for someone in the 1930s, it fit as though it was made just for me, which I realised the second I put it on. I had the neckline altered and added some glass beading to go alongside the hand-painted flowers that were initially on the dress. I love the idea someone may have handmade this for their daughter, and almost 100 years later, it once again was able to have its moment.
