We envisioned a garden party bursting with wildflowers and pastel rainbow hues.
ZANNA—— We met almost a decade ago through a dating app called Happn. I was a newly qualified personal trainer, fresh to London, on a shoestring budget. So when Ant took me to a fancy Mayfair restaurant, I was completely out of my depth. I arrived in casual gear, gym bag in tow, while he sat there in a sharp suit, sipping a martini. But we clicked instantly over our shared love of travel and adventure. When he suggested another drink after dinner, I declined, explaining I had to be up at 5am. Ant took this as rejection and disappeared for months until, after a few too many drinks, he texted me out of the blue. Hungover and slightly sheepish, he turned up for our second date, and somehow still managed to charm me.
Our wedding was always going to be a reflection of us: vibrant, joyful, and full of colour. We envisioned a garden party bursting with wildflowers and pastel rainbow hues. The mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop, so we kept our florals light, letting nature take centre stage. Multicoloured blooms featured in everything from our stationery to our signage.
My bridesmaids wore different pastel shades, each holding a bouquet to match, while mine combined all of theirs. Seeing it all come together was a dream. Ant and I are both meticulous planners, so organising the wedding was second nature. Our spreadsheets had spreadsheets, but we thrived on it. The highlight? Food and wine tasting, of course — who wouldn’t love spending hours sampling canapés and sipping sangria? Beyond that, choosing our music was incredibly special. Certain songs trigger so much emotion, and picking the ones for our ceremony and first dance had us both welling up. Even now, hearing them takes us right back to that day.
Neither of us are used to dressing up — most of our days are spent in hoodies and trainers — so creating bespoke outfits felt extra special. Ant had a made-to-measure suit crafted at Thom Sweeney on Savile Row, a sandy linen look perfect for our summer wedding. Finding my dress was trickier. I must have tried on 70 before I stumbled across an Australian designer, Ella Moda, whose dresses weren’t even stocked in London. By some miracle, they announced a UK pop-up, and I booked the first appointment. The second I put my dress on, I knew. The structured corset, mikado silk, and floral lace were everything I’d envisioned. I even had our cat Bella’s paw prints embroidered into my veil. My evening look was a sparkly Jan Si Studios mini, which they later named the ‘Zanna’ dress!
We splurged on entertainment and photography. We flew in The Function Band from the UK and they were worth every penny, getting us dancing on tables during dinner and keeping the energy high all night.
Photography was non-negotiable. I searched tirelessly before finding Jack Henry. The photos are everything we could have hoped for — timeless and full of the magic of the day. Looking back, our wedding felt like an extension of us —playful, heartfelt, and brimming with love. It was the perfect start to our next chapter together.
