Searching for the perfect bloom……With such exquisite floral designs posted around the world these days, it’s becoming more of an everyday challenge to search out the perfect coloured bloom from our small growers market in NZ.
With weddings being more creative than ever I often find myself in the week of a wedding on the hunt for blooms I am dreaming of to complete the look. I’ll be honest this search can sometimes take me to places you might not imagine and it’s not always a dreamy forage through a paddock of wild flowers. This was certainly the case for Alice and Alex’s Lake Ferry wedding, I found the perfectly formed parchment lissanthus whilst buying my bag of coffee and loaf of bread. I knew instantly that this unusual bloom wasn’t going to beat anything I had on its way to me so I bundled every bunch they had and made my way to the counter. When it came to their wedding day, for once I didn’t mind that I woke up to see a moody, blustery Wellington sky because I knew my paper thin ruffled petals in the perfect parchment colour we’re going to look wonderful in that light.
