By The Sea – Occasion Styling
Under a setting coastal sun, we see messy waves, bare feet, a white dress flowing in the wind, and a table laid with the bounty of Mother Nature. Freshly cooked seafood is lovingly served in its shell, on handmade ceramics and washed-out linen. The scent of roses and lilies and the music of waves crashing. This is a setting designed to provoke the senses. Shoal Bay is a small coastal town on the northern side of Newcastle, Australia. Its coves and beaches are a perfect example of the pristine, untouched beauty of this rugged landscape. The speckled rocky outcrops with their palettes of black and rust seem to glow in contrast to the whitewashed details chosen for this peaceful setting. Differing in size and scale, from a duo of roses to more abundant arrangements, florals appear to have been handpicked or plucked from the dunes and gently arranged upon the table, or tied to furniture in purposeful disorder. The late afternoon light, soft in its glow, helps bring this unpretentious seaside scene to life.
