Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do. What is special/unique about you as a photographer?

I’m from the South Coast of NSW and I’ve been a wedding photographer for 5 years. I love weddings and I believe in giving my couples real evidence of their day by capturing all the genuine and real moments. I want the images to be a reflection of my couples and their guests. I transform fleeting emotions into timeless images and with each click of the shutter will reveal my deep passion and dedication to the job.

Can you tell us about your journey as a wedding photographer and how your style has evolved over time?

I always wanted to tell stories of love through my lens and I guess My style has evolved to include a greater emphasis on a documentary stye approach to a wedding day. I’ve become really skilled at observing and scanning for those heartfelt moments between people.

I remember I would always rehearse poses in my head that I would implement on the wedding day- the couples looked like stiff soldiers and this didn’t reflect who they were. Yes, couples do need guidance but I like to let things unfold naturally and have learnt when to interject in the moment too if needed.

What do you think is most important for people to consider when looking for a wedding photographer?

When selecting a wedding photographer, it’s crucial to consider a couple of key factors to ensure the day is captured beautifully. Start by evaluating the photographer’s style to make sure it aligns with your vision. As well as this, find out their approach to the day too- this is so important. Your photographer is your third wheel for the entire day, see if their approach aligns with what you are seeking. With these considerations, you and your photographer will be their perfect match.

What inspires you and your photography?

That’s simple. Human emotions and connection. I’m so drawn to people’s energy and connections. Capturing authentic moments of joy, love, and interactions between people can be incredibly moving and inspiring. This is especially true for wedding photography, where the emotional depth of the day can be so profound. There is so much magic to be captured on a wedding day.

How do you establish a connection with your clients before the wedding? How does this relationship influence your work?

Building a strong connection with clients in the lead up to the day really helps in delivering a more personalised, stress-free, and memorable experience, both for them and for me as a professional. I have an initial video call consultation to get to know my clients, I regularly communicate throughout the wedding journey to help maintain continuity and trust and I set clear expectations so that my clients know what to expect on the day too. I want my couples to feel like they’re being looked after throughout the entire process and not just on the day. A great experience for them will positively influence how they are in front of the camera which leads to more genuine and heartfelt moments because they’re comfortable.

What are your favourite moments to capture during a wedding, and are there any specific emotions or scenes that you always look for?

You’d probably expect me to say the first kiss or a big moment like that but to be honest, my favourite moments are all the in-between moments. The fleeting moments when my couples and their guests don’t even know that they’re being captured. It’s in these moments that people are their true authentic selves.

What would your number one tip be to help couples in their wedding planning journey?

Can I pick two? My number one tip for couples who are planning a wedding is to prioritise exactly what you want out of your wedding day. Plan the day your way. After all, you’re building a life together that is unique, your wedding day should be no different. And secondly, carefully select wedding vendors who align with your vision. After all, they become your dream team who play a pivotal role in shaping your wedding day. They turn a vision into reality with their creativity and expertise and help you transform your dream wedding into an unforgettable celebration.

Where do you see wedding trends heading in the future?

Wedding trends are always evolving and influenced by so many factors but I feel that weddings have become more of ‘a production’.  I really hope for future weddings to be less about this and it be more focused about the love, the people, the moments and the eternal commitment of the couple. Let it be a sincere day and not a show.

Any exciting plans for the future?

Hopefully combining my love for travelling and photography to specialise in overseas destination weddings.
