A wedding vacation festival in Portugal
We – international wedding photographer Tina Dorée and Destination Wedding Planner Core Weddings & Events hosted a wedding photography retreat at Casa Sacoto in Portugal. The intimate and slow luxury focused venue close to Lisbon provided a beautiful and intimate setting perfect for our vision.
The concept for this retreat was inspired by the colourful Santo Antonio festival, celebrated annually in Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest and most characterful district. This lively event is known for its bold garlands adorning cobbled streets and the beloved Portuguese dish, Caldo Verde, a hearty cabbage soup often enjoyed at weddings.
Our aim was to reinterpret this traditional festival, infusing it with contemporary designs, innovative textures, and fashion-forward outfits that echoed a vintage festival spirit. We played with bold pops of colour and interesting flowers that stood out against the pristine white backdrop of Casa Sacoto’s Portuguese-style estate.
Portugal is a wonderful destination for a slow yet quiet luxury wedding vacation, offering the perfect blend of rich cultural heritage and serene landscapes. The vibrant and festive elements of Santo Antonio were brought to life, creating a stunning fusion of tradition and modernity.
