How did we meet? Prepare yourselves for the most romantic pickup line ever… October 2013 we were both flatting in Wellington. I was working on a night shift at the hospital when a message popped up on my Facebook, from Luke who I’d never met.
We are bringing back an edit of our top-performing real weddings from the TJ archives. These are our very best weddings that our audience has loved the most, and the ones we think are still very relevant and aspirational.
The first time I laid eyes on Gert, I was in love. I was in a bar, finishing off another cricket season with a few beers and some mates, and the first thing I splurted out to her was “I love you”, with a big grin on my face.

Hannah– I was born in New Zealand and moved to London five years ago, where I now work at a luxury fashion e-commerce platform. Timi– I’m Nigerian, born and raised in London. Growing up, basketball was everything to me and that led to my love of sneakers and a career at Nike. I still play, I have a Youtube channel with a friend called Pure Kicks, and I work at (authentic sneakers platform) GOAT Group.

David works for himself in the cyber security field as well as running a youtube channel. Angelina works in youth services. David and I are quite similar with so many shared interests, he is my best friend, and we know how lucky we are to have found each other in this world and ‘do’ life together.
TJ Iconic! The elopement of Elli and Will is probably more relevant today than when it first appeared on TJ. We have noticed a huge uptake in elopements and smaller weddings, a side effect of a global pandemic. There can be so much beauty in a smaller more intimate gathering. So while you may not be able to have a huge wedding right now (in NZ at least) you could opt for a small affair and plan a big celebration party for further down the track.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
I don’t think there was a certain moment, but my favourite parts of my day are the simple things that we do together. Coffee in bed in the morning and snuggling on the couch at night are what I look forward to the most….

N: “We are a young couple. He is 29 years old, Italian and I’m 28 years old, half South Korean and half Angolan but now, both of us are living in Cascais, Portugal. We work together in digital marketing. We are into simple things. We like nature, reading, travelling, sports, etc.”

[O] I love late nights with good company, skinny dipping in the ocean, slow mornings and dancing with reckless abandon.
[M] I am a professional creative and an old-soul. I love a variety of art, design and vintage ephemera. I also have a penchant for beautiful rocks, the occasional old fashioned and, of course, giving my wife a run for her money on the dance floor.

Tyson and I are performers on cruise ships. We both sing and dance and are away on contracts for about 10 months of the year. It’s an amazing opportunity to travel and see the world.
I always had a feeling. Hannah never asked me to change anything yet I truly found myself as a person. Because of her, I strived to be better and do better in life.
We met the ‘old fashioned way’ (on a dating app), I’m not sure if the app still exists (we may have been their only success story). The idea of the app was to match couples that crossed paths or visited similar locations.
