This young couple represents the youthful spirit of the city, in beautiful juxtaposition to the solidity of its ancient tiles and stonework. Its high ceilings and stained glass windows play backdrop to white lace, red lips, abundant bouquets and joyful abandon. Even the stationery — simple and classical against the fruit tart — is bold and vibrant. Shot at the venerable Christchurch Arts Centre, within its Great Hall and surrounding cloisters, this is a location that hints at the sacred ideals and hopes this young couple may have of marriage — strength, grace, timeliness, dignity. Christchurch’s reputation as the Garden City is echoed, too, in the outdoor setting and in the ravishing floral arrangements. The rich, formal hues of deep magenta and plum mingle with softer pinks, loosely arranged milky green foliage, golden magnolia leaves and ripening berries — all very much in keeping with the impeccably stylish yet traditional formality of Crane Brothers’ suiting.
