Get lost in Boucheron’s Collection Santal de Kandy fragrance, an ode to the gem hunters of Maison Boucheron. These individuals were utterly captivated by the Sri Lankan town of Kandy during their jewel conquests. The hunters were met with a city teeming with sprawling forests, sky-high mountains, and a colourful culture. Boucheron cleverly managed to take all of these unique elements and bottle it up in a deliciously spicy fragrance with exotic charm.
Our editor, Greta, is a lover of perfumes of this family, so she gave Santal de Kandy an ovation.
I am a big fan of spicy, exotic fragrances like this Boucheron perfume, especially with an interesting historic story woven in. In my collection at home, I have been known to collect scents such as these. I find Santal de Kandy intriguing and appealing; the warm heat of the black pepper caught me immediately and I love the richness of the cardamom blended in. There is no doubt when it comes to the bergamot in this as it pairs beautifully with floral jasmine and violet. The woodiness of sandalwood and cedar just rounds this out and without a doubt, it is a delight to wear. For me, I appreciate it more the longer I wear it throughout the day and into the night, as I have done often now. If you’re a packaging lover, you’ll adore the luxe vessel. I love how it exudes a mod, 1960s vibe, like ones you’d find on your mother or grandmother’s dressing table; almost acting as a classic perfume worn throughout the ages. Timeless for sure.
More from Boucheron about their Santal de Kandy perfume…
A collection inspired by the memories of the Maison Boucheron gem hunters. Santal de Kandy, a sacred and hypnotic spicy-floral-woody scent. An Eau de Parfum and an ode to the Sri Lankan city of Kandy, which captivated the gem hunter with its colourful and lively character and the countless riches of its mountains and forests. To give a fresh, spicy contrast, the biting warmth of black pepper blends with the spicy freshness of cardamom to bring out the sparkle of bergamot.
Resinous swirls of Styrax are enhanced with elegant floral notes. Delicate jasmine and powdery violet petals intermingle to create a precious and spiritual richness. In the base notes, sandalwood is enhanced by the hypnotic power of patchouli and the divine strength of cedar. The fragrance is enhanced by a beautiful box adorned with gold and white, the sleeve of which is embellished with a string-coloured ribbon and opens onto a bottle dressed in pale taupe tones.
