Cocktail Club – Lemon Lily Pad

Welcome to the Together Journal Cocktail Club. We’ve teamed up with the lovely people from Good Spirits to bring you a series of cocktail creations so you can enjoy the perfect night out in the comfort of your own home.

Our Sweet take on the classic “Lemon Drop”. As lemons are in abundance during the lockdown, this simple recipe is perfect for you to try at home. All you need is Gin, an Elderflower liqueur, Cointreau, sugar and lemons. If you have no Cointreau you can sub it out for triple sec. The Eldeflower liqueur is optional as well. It just adds a nice element to all the fragrances.

Recipe:
40ml Tanqueray Gin
30ml Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
30ml Simple Syrup ( Ratio 1:1 Boiling Water: Sugar)
30ml Cointreau
10ml Elderflower liqueur

Method:
Boil down your sugar syrup in a cup.
30ml of Lemon juice is roughly half a lemon. Just make sure to strain the lemon juice as you don’t want bits of lemon floating in the drink.

Add all your ingredients to your boston shaker. Fill your shaker with ice and shake hard for 30 seconds. Double strain into Couple/Martini glass. A wine glass will do the trick as well. You can get creative with a few garnishes from your garden. We use a lime leaf to float on top and some gypsophila to make it look super pretty and elegant but a mint leaf or some pretty florals from your garden will look great too. Sit back, relax and enjoy.
