Colombe + Zoli by Danielle‬‭ Aisling

I think we were going for classic and‬ timeless with some pizzazz!‬

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…‬

We are Colombe and Zoli, or Zo&Co for fun 🙂 We are partners in life, love, and business. We love to travel, be in nature, eat‬ amazing vegan food, and build businesses. We are fur-parents to two amazing dogs, Luna and Sol, who are the light of our‬ lives. We own an Airbnb and multiple businesses‬ together and just LOVE spending life with each other!‬‬‭

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?‬

Drum roll, please…. We met on Hinge! Although we had been living within a block of each other for 5+ years, and even had the‬ same doctor, we had never run into each other. It took an app to officially introduce us (which almost didn’t happen, as Zoli was about to delete it!). We met for dinner, and honestly, it felt like we had known each other forever. There was an instant, deep‬‭ connection. It was a matter of weeks before falling head over heels in love with each other.‬

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).‬

I’m a very classic person, and I prefer muted tones, so I always envisioned a lot of white. I’m also not a girly-girl, so no frills or‬ sparkles or diamonds. I was thinking classic, vogue, but fun and not too stuffy. Some things were important, like the dress and‬ the vibes, and others, like the bridesmaids’ bouquets and my accessories, weren’t. I think we were going for classic and‬ timeless with some pizzazz!‬

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc.,‬ something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).‬

I drew a lot of inspiration from the venue and past weddings there. The venue was also super important to me and really stood‬ out as such a beautiful backdrop that didn’t need much “dressing up”. Also, my dress – I think once I found that, many other‬ things fell into place around it.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?‬

I personally loved planning a lot of it – I think seeing things come together, like my dress and my bridesmaids’ dresses (they all got to choose their own sage green dresses), and planning out the event details and photo locations, were my favourites. My biggest tip is‬ do NOT sweat the small details (not worth it and literally no one will notice) AND don’t go bananas on decor – it’s incredibly‬ expensive and again, no one really notices. Sometimes, simple is best!‬

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?‬

Definitely our amazing photographer Danielle (who also happens to be my cousin). There was no one else I wanted to‬ photograph during our week in Mexico. The photos of the event were also super important to me, and we couldn’t be happier with how‬ they turned out. Another shoutout goes to our amazing wedding planner, Celeste – we really couldn’t have pulled it all off without‬ her (or maybe we could hav,e but with a lot more stress!). Lastly, the resort and the people who work there. It was perfect.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?‬

Nothing terribly unique, though some fun highlights. We did an all white welcome party, which was super fun and very‬ aesthetically pleasing! My dress was a one-of-a-kind and perfectly suited for me. It was NOT what I was looking for, but as soon‬ as I tried it on, I knew it was the one. I was really close with my paternal grandmother, and it was hard not having her there, so I‬ brought one of her very special brooches with me and pinned it to my bouquet. Lastly, the white Converse for the dance party‬ were epic and SO comfortable!‬

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.‬

My husband knew it was important for me to have a lab-grown diamond, and WOW did he ever do good! It’s a single solitaire on‬ a diamond band. Exactly what I would have chosen for myself. My wedding band is similar, but the diamonds are a little bigger,‬ for contrast. Again, simple, elegant, timeless. Zoli’s wedding band is a good matte grey tungsten.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography,‬ florals, the venue, your outfits?).‬

Photography was definitely one! Food would have been another, but we had less say over that, given the food was catered by‬ the resort (which led to some problems, but ultimately in the end it was fine!). The other was the venue!‬

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?‬

All of it, truly. A few standouts: I didn’t think my father would be able to travel (he hasn’t really ever travelled and we weren’t sure‬ it would be doable), but he came, and sharing that experience with him was just incredible. Another standout moment was our‬ first dance, which ended up turning into a dance party circle with our entire bridal party!
