Conie + Joel by for PEARLS and PEARS

We leaned into something more personal, relaxed, and full of joy.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

I work in the fashion industry—a world that allows me to express my love for style and creativity every day. Fashion has always been a big part of my identity, and I enjoy exploring different ways of putting looks together that reflect who I am.

And Joel is a passionate foodie. We love travelling the world to discover new cuisines, indulging in local delicacies, and bringing those inspirations back into our kitchen. Cooking is another way we express love and creativity, and sharing a meal with people we care about is something that brings us the greatest joy.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met seven years ago at a casual barbecue party. From the very beginning, I was struck by how dependable and grounded he felt—he had the energy of a big-hearted boy with a playful, curious soul. He tells me that he saw me as a refined, caring person who naturally looked after those around me. It sounds like a cliché, but it truly was love at first sight.

Still, we were both shy at the beginning. What brought us together was how aligned our values and outlook on life were, and how naturally we clicked. By the seventh day of knowing each other, we had already chosen to be together—and now, seven years later, that spark hasn’t dimmed.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding.

As we are having a more “formal” wedding in the following months, for this “mini-wedding”, we just want it to be intimate and chill.

But our vision for both weddings was never about tradition or formality—it was about being true to ourselves. We both have playful, cheeky personalities, and we wanted our wedding to reflect that energy. Rather than going down the path of classic wedding styling, we leaned into something more personal, relaxed, and full of joy. Red became a central accent for us, not only because it’s vibrant and fun, but because it symbolises passionate love. On this once-in-a-lifetime day, our only goal was to feel like ourselves and celebrate in a way that felt authentic and free-spirited.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you?

For us, the food was the real highlight. We chose to celebrate our day at one of our favourite restaurants, indulging in the dishes that hold the most meaning for us—most notably their incredible lobster rolls. Sharing our favourite meal together, surrounded by love and laughter, felt so perfectly “us.” While weddings are often remembered for flowers or décor, for us, it was the flavours and the comfort of being in a place we truly loved that made the day unforgettable.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples?

The most enjoyable part of the planning process was keeping everything centred on who we are, instead of who we thought we “should” be. I believe that every wedding should feel like a true reflection of the couple, not a performance or an expectation. My advice for others would be: stay true to yourself, and don’t be afraid to step outside of tradition if that doesn’t feel like you. The most magical moments come when you are your most authentic selves—because that’s when you’ll feel the purest joy.

Tell us about your vendors.

One of the standout contributors to our day was our photographer, for PEARLS and PEARS. She had such a natural way of capturing moments, not just in a polished way, but in a way that truly reflected our happiness. Looking back at her photographs feels like reliving the day over and over again. Her ability to document emotion is something I will always treasure.

Tell us about your main outfits.

Our outfits were intentionally relaxed, fun, and very much “us.” I incorporated my love for bow details into my look, pairing a playful dress with a crisp white shirt for a touch of effortless chic. My husband wore a suit with a simple white T-shirt underneath, which gave his look a casual, modern twist. Together, our outfits had this lighthearted charm that captured the mood we wanted: joyful, relaxed, and brimming with personality.

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

We chose the Cartier Love collection for our rings. There’s something timeless and deeply symbolic about the design—it represents commitment, unity, and a love that is enduring. For us, it was the perfect emblem of the bond we share and the future we’re building together.

What were one or two elements you were happy to spend a little more on?

Without hesitation—food! For us, good food is happiness, and it was important that this day was filled with flavours we truly love. We both felt that sharing a meal that brought us joy was worth every bit of extra effort, because in the end, the heart of celebration is about gathering, eating, and enjoying together.

Was there a favourite moment that you will treasure always?

The most treasured moment was when we exchanged our vows. Standing in front of each other, promising to walk into the next chapter of life together, was deeply moving. It was the transition from “unmarried” to “married,” but more than that—it was a moment that captured the essence of our journey so far, and the commitment to everything that lies ahead. It’s a memory we will hold in our hearts forever.
