Hannah, tell us about yourself and how Dear Brides started.
I’m a passionate content creator from Auckland, New Zealand. Ever since I was young, I adored being creative, making home movies and creating content during my family holidays. My friends and family know that I always have my phone in my hand, capturing those beautiful raw and aesthetic shots.Â
I wanted to combine my love for content creation into providing a service for those who don’t want to miss any moment of their special day. I am deeply passionate about behind-the-scenes short-form video content that is so unique and captures things that are often overlooked.Â
In 2022, I decided to turn my passion into Dear Brides, New Zealand’s first wedding content creation service, capturing short-form videos.
Why should brides consider hiring a wedding content creator and how is this different from videography services?
Your wedding day is a day full of emotions and memories. A day that deserves to be captured in all its glory. While a traditional photographer and videographer are essential for a wedding day, people often cannot wait 2-3 weeks to start posting.
This is where Dear Brides steps in – where we capture the essence of your special day through a behind-the-scenes point of view. Not only that, you also are delivered all of your content within 24 hours of your day.
Social Media plays a huge part in everyone’s lives. TikTok and Instagram Reels have stolen the hearts of many, with people sharing their lives through these platforms. Traditional videography videos are typically landscape, which makes it difficult to repurpose and post on these social media sites. That is why Dear Brides is different, we capture short-form portrait content on the latest iPhone, designed to be posted directly to your socials.
What sets your approach to wedding content creation apart?
We capture the moments that often get overlooked. The behind-the-scenes of the bride getting ready to walk down the aisle, the morning nerves and giggles while getting ready and moments that you will never want to forget. We capture it and let you relieve those moments through short-form video content.
Your content is sent to you via iCloud or Google Drive 24 hours after your wedding day. As soon as you wake up, you will be able to post an already-edited reel straight to your socials. You don’t need to wait days until posting (and don’t let your Aunty beat you to post before you do!)
How do you approach creating unique and personalised wedding content that resonates with each couple’s vision and style?
Everyone has such a unique style and we want to incorporate each couple’s style to the best of our ability. Each package includes a Zoom call where we sit down with your Pinterest board and go through your vision. We work together on your preferred style to ensure that the content you receive is better than you were expecting.
What inspires your work?
Creating beautiful and memorable content that couples can revisit time and time again. Weddings are so beautiful and I am a strong believer in never having too much footage. This is your one chance, why not capture everything and reminisce about the unique moments that may have been otherwise forgotten?
What is your advice to couples who are considering a wedding content creator but might not be sure?
You may be thinking, ‘Why wouldn’t I just get my friend to record on their phone‘, Well, let me tell you some key differences that will make you rethink:
Expertise: We have successfully captured numerous weddings which means we know how a wedding day is run. You don’t need to worry about us getting in the way of anyone. Prior to the wedding, we have a phone call with both the videographer and photographer to align ourselves and get a game plan together.
Let your friends be friends. They want to enjoy the day without feeling the pressure of constantly being behind a phone. When the wine hits at the end of the night, the last thing they’ll want to do is record content!
We edit for you! There is no editing needed, as your packages will include between 2-6 edited reels. If editing is your passion, we also provide raw content for you to do as you want.
