Elle + Matt by Tahnee Jade Photography

Our relationship grew out of a fun and playful friendship seven years ago, and we haven’t looked back since!

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Opposites attract! Super chilled-out, introverted coastal guy meets high heel-loving, extroverted city girl. It is a match made in heaven, really. We both worked in the same industry and met at work, and we both have the same love for travel, which meant we went on three holidays together in our first six months of dating. As the saying goes, if you can navigate your first overseas holiday together, you’ve found a lifer…or something like that. We’ve come a long way from those early days; we’ve recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast and take our role as dog parents very seriously.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Our relationship grew out of a fun and playful friendship seven years ago, and we haven’t looked back since!

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

We both knew pretty early on, but we were also in no rush; the marriage side of it was just us legalising our love for each other.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

The proposal was perfect, wasn’t it? Truly though, Matt pulled the surprise off so well. We were on a family holiday in Bali, and he popped the question on day three at our resort, where he had them arrange a dinner on the pier. When it all happened, I was crying and hugging him so much that I didn’t realise until watching back the footage that he had the ring clenched in his fist the whole time, hoping it wasn’t going to fall through the pier slats and into the ocean. Afterwards, we celebrated with our family and had a few espresso martinis.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Well, luckily, great company was at the top of our splurge list and cost us nothing; we had it in bucket loads on the day. Second to that, though, frites (aka great food & wine), we absolutely picked the perfect restaurant to tick those boxes for us.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

Well in true Elle fashion, I had only tried on and purchased my dress four days before the wedding day. I struggled to find something in the lead up that instantly clicked. Once I saw the feathers and sparkle, I knew I was taking it home before trying it on! The rest of the outfits and accessories were all purchased that day in a whirlwind, and I couldn’t be happier with the final result.
