Emily + Brad by The Love Archives

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

Brad & I met three years ago on a camping trip with friends and have pretty much been inseparable since then. We bonded over a deep love for nature which has now led us into a passion for plants; indoor plants (Emily) & permaculture (Brad).

Like every other couple, we’ve been through our ups and downs which has helped us grow as both individuals and as a couple.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

We wanted our day to be cruisy, spent with our closest family & friends and to just celebrate our love. The theme we went for was rustic boho including warm tones into the styling & florals. The ceremony at One Tree Hill looked even more incredible than I had expected. But the highlight styling piece was the floral hanging installation done by Willow Bud at the reception. I spent a good half an hour laying on the ground underneath it the day after the wedding as I didn’t get to admire it enough on the night, haha.

Tell us about your main outfits:

My dress was exactly what I wanted to wear on our day; long sleeves, low back & high front. For myself I wanted to be comfortable throughout the day whilst still looking nice. The lace used by Lovers Society was soft to the touch and I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted whilst wearing it. I decided to wear boots on the day as it’s more me than regular heals and it added a pretty cool element to the look. But the most special part of my outfit was a jacket from my recently passed grandmother. She unfortunately passed a couple of months before the wedding and it felt like she was there with me when I wore it.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

One of my favourite memories was our ceremony, I don’t think I actually heard much of what Fiona said because Brad didn’t stop telling me how pretty I looked and asking if he was allowed to kiss me yet, haha. We also surprised 99% of the people present at the end of the ceremony that Brad was taking my last name instead of me taking his.

Another moment that was really nice for us was during the reception we took 5 minutes to leave everyone & just have some time together. We cuddled, discussed the highlights of our day & looked at the stars.

My dad also surprised us with a fireworks show which was pretty epic too!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

Our advice to couples planning their weddings would be to celebrate your day the way you want to, not your parents or friends. Wait to choose your bridal party & make expectations clear. And take a quiet moment out of your day to let it all sink in!
