New York Bridal Fashion Week SS27: Halfpenny London Finds Beauty in the Details with Marguerite

As New York Bridal Fashion Week unveils the collections shaping the Spring/Summer 2027 season, British bridal house Halfpenny London brings a distinctly personal perspective to the conversation. Its latest collection, Marguerite, explores the beauty of intricate detail, the confidence of simplicity and the increasingly fluid boundaries between bridalwear and everyday fashion. For designer Kate Halfpenny, the starting point is refreshingly modest: a single handmade daisy.

With its centre painstakingly constructed from tiny French knots, the embroidered flower offers both a visual and symbolic foundation for the collection. In the Victorian language of flowers, the daisy represented discretion, an expression of love held close rather than publicly declared. It is a fitting reference for a designer whose work often finds its strength in the relationship between precise construction, expressive silhouettes and an individual approach to bridal dressing.

Four new designs join the house’s established signatures, each offering a different interpretation of contemporary bridalwear. The Olea gown is particularly compelling, cut on the bias with sculpted seams that give way to fluid godets. Fine French lace inserts trace the body, while delicate straps tie at the lower back, finished with freshwater pearls. It is an exercise in precision, with the smallest details contributing to the overall effect.

The Altea introduces a more defined silhouette, pairing a boned corset and softly scooped neckline with French lace and a fitted skirt that extends into a godet puddle train. Its versatility is central to the design. Worn strapless, with lace drapes or with additional gauntlet sleeves, the gown can shift in character throughout a celebration without requiring an entirely new look.

Elsewhere, the Kit corset brings a sharper, more architectural sensibility. Constructed in Mikado with minimal seams, a curved neckline and an elongated basque hem, it is styled with the exuberant Riri skirt, whose voluminous silk organza frills were originally created for Rihanna. The contrast between the disciplined corset and extravagant skirt captures one of Halfpenny London’s strengths: an ability to balance restraint with theatricality.

That tension continues through the Ilse overskirt, sculpted in lightweight Duchess satin with a defined waist and generous draping. Layered over a simpler gown, it transforms the silhouette, illustrating the creative possibilities of the house’s modular approach.

Perhaps the collection’s most significant development, however, extends beyond bridalwear altogether. Responding to demand for pieces that can live outside the wedding wardrobe, Halfpenny London is introducing bespoke corsets designed specifically for everyday dressing, made to order in its London atelier.

As the SS27 collections place fresh attention on individuality and personal expression, Marguerite offers a considered perspective on what modern bridal dressing can be. Rather than prescribing a particular look, Halfpenny London gives brides the freedom to build, adapt and reinterpret their wardrobe on their own terms. It is an approach that feels increasingly relevant, not only to the wedding day itself, but to the way women want to dress well beyond it.
