Artful wedding photography defined by intention, detail and modern elegance.
Hannah Allison Photography approaches each wedding as a story waiting to be told, blending gentle direction with space for natural moments to unfold. With an eye for light, mood and detail, her imagery is vibrant, cinematic and deeply authentic—capturing both the sweeping scenes and the quiet, in-between glances. The result is wedding photography that feels intentional, artful and entirely true to each couple.

How do you approach each wedding to ensure the photographs feel both beautifully curated and true to the couple’s unique connection?
Every wedding starts with a story. I spend time understanding who the couple are, their quirks, what makes them laugh and what moments they’ll want to remember decades from now. My approach is a blend of gentle direction and observation: creating space for natural, unscripted moments to unfold. The goal is images that feel intentional and artful, yet completely them.
Your relaxed presence and ability to put people at ease seem to be a hallmark of your work. How do you create that atmosphere on a wedding day, and how does it influence the moments you capture?
I’m calm but playful, I laugh with people, reassure when needed and let moments breathe. When couples feel comfortable, they forget about the camera and that’s when the most effortless, honest images appear.

You have photographed weddings across New Zealand and are now based in Perth. How has this shift in location inspired your photography, and are there elements of the New Zealand landscapes and light that you still draw from in your work?
Weddings in New Zealand have taught me to notice light, mood and the small details that make moments feel alive. I’m excited to bring that same approach to Perth, blending intimacy with the warmth and openness of its landscapes.
Can you talk us through your artistic process, from the moment you meet a couple to delivering their final gallery?
It begins with conversation: really listening to who they are, what they value and how they envision their day. From there, I map the flow of the wedding, scouting light and planning moments that will feel effortless. On the day, I balance capturing candid moments with subtle direction, always keeping their connection at the forefront. I then curate a gallery that’s cohesive, vibrant and full of emotion. Images that feel alive and timeless.

What do you feel sets your approach and style apart from other wedding photographers, particularly for couples who are drawn to imagery that is vibrant, authentic and design-conscious?
I blend spontaneity with intention. My images feel vibrant and artistic, but also thoughtfully composed, perfect for couples who love authenticity but also value design and detail.
Where do you find your creative inspiration outside of weddings, and how do these influences filter into the way you photograph love stories?
I find inspiration everywhere, often in the small, everyday things. Travel always sparks new ideas too. All of these influences weave into how I photograph, helping me create images that feel layered and natural.

If you could photograph a wedding anywhere in the world, where would your dream location be and why? Are there any destinations you are hoping to work in over the coming years?
I’ve always dreamed of photographing a wedding in the Italian countryside; vineyards, golden light and that effortless romance in every corner. Greece is another spot, with its light, sea and endless texture. Over the next few years, I’m excited to explore more destination weddings across Europe and the Pacific, blending new landscapes with my storytelling style.
As someone who values storytelling, how do you balance capturing the grand, sweeping moments with the quiet, in-between details that often become the most treasured memories?
Of course you need the big, breathtaking frames, but the story lives in the pauses, I feel the smallest glances often hold the most heart. The in-between moments are where the real, raw emotion lies. These smaller, unnoticed moments are my favourite.

For couples searching for the right photographer, what advice would you give to ensure they find someone whose work and energy truly align with their vision for the day?
Look beyond just the photos and pay attention to how the photographer’s work makes you feel. Then meet them in person if you can; their energy on the day will shape everything. When you feel a connection and trust with your photographer, the images naturally become more relaxed and honest, which will help your personalities to shine through.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future of your work, and how do you see your style evolving in this new chapter of your career?
I’m excited to explore new landscapes of Perth, experiment with light and collaborate with couples in fresh ways. My style will always focus on authenticity, but I see it evolving to be more cinematic and layered, capturing love stories that feel both timeless, artistic and full of life.
