Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We’re Honor and Cedrick. We got married in May 2024 in Florence, Italy. We live in Brooklyn, New York. Honor is a tech company recruiter, and Cedrick is a lawyer. We love to explore the city with our miniature dachshund, Willa, eat good food and travel.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met on Bumble–in fact, Cedrick was Honor’s first ever date from a dating app. After meeting on Bumble, we got each other’s phone numbers and planned a date at a whisky bar in Manhattan, the White Oak Tavern. Cedrick was blown away when he walked in and saw Honor, and Honor loved that Cedrick showed up in a suit.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
Right away. Our first date lasted nearly 7 hours, and it was clear we both found it so natural to spend time with one another. Every following date was the same, and we each knew the other person was the one with whom they wanted to spend the rest of their lives.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
Yes, Cedrick worked hard on a surprise proposal. He worked with a jeweller to create a ring, devised a plan for the proposal, organized an engagement party and invited all of their friends and family to fly in for the event. All went according to plan, except that Honor knew something was up. Thankfully, she played along, and Cedrick led her up a big hill on Governors Island, right off of Manhattan, where he proposed against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.
We chose to be in Florence for our wedding, so we wanted to lean into its beauty. This really came to life when the ceremony and reception were held on the grounds of Villa Palmieri, overlooking Florence, given that the Villa and surrounding grounds are so beautiful and uniquely Florentine. We further supported this vision with small details like using tomatoes as decoration at the welcome event and lemons as decoration at the dinner reception.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
The food! Is there anything more important than making sure everyone is well-fed with a great meal at a big celebration?
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
Yes! Right before Cedrick and his Father (the Officiant) were supposed to take their places at the end of the aisle before the ceremony, thunder loudly rolled, making everyone–Cedrick, his father, Honor, the guests–nervous that it was about to storm on the completely outdoor ceremony and reception. Thankfully, the thunder never turned into rain, and the sun came out shortly thereafter.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Honor got her dress from Kleinfeld’s from the designer Sera Nouri. Honor wanted something simple, comfortable and easy to get on and her helper at Kleinfeld’s, Cierra, made it such a smooth experience. We knew the importance of the day for us meant we’d want a black tie dress code, but we had fun with an “Italian summer” themed welcome drinks event the night before.
