Jason + Lowri by Jessica Lily

There was not a defining moment as such for both of us, but there was never a time either of us could imagine being without the other.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Lowri is a proud Welshy who works in costume in film and television, dressing actors. She is obsessed with our Goldendoodle, Milo, who was the star guest at the wedding and walked down the aisle with her Maid of Honour as a surprise for Jason, it was quite emotional. Lowri loves fashion, interior and architecture so a lot of the choices and designs were inspired by all of those things. Jason also works in film and television as both an actor and producer. He is also an interior and architecture lover, so choosing Isla & Smith to be our wedding planner was a joint decision that we both couldn’t recommend highly enough. We both love the outdoors, walking and grabbing a holiday when we can and wherever possible, Milo will be sure to tag along!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met on Instagram. Lowri definitely pressed the follow button first, but Jason slid straight into the DM’s. After a few weeks of chatting on the phone, in true Gavin and Stacey style, we decided to meet on Valentine’s Day 2017 after a Drake concert Lowri had planned with her cousin prior. Where: Shoreditch House. First impressions: Well, it was quite a passive aggressive start after nearly not meeting due to her cousin deciding she wanted to go home after the concert but within two weeks, Lowri had told Jason she loved him, Jason played it a little cooler but for both of us, it was very much a case of when you know, you know and the rest is history!

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

There was not a defining moment as such for both of us, but there was never a time either of us could imagine being without the other.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Yes, the proposal was at Caswell Bay in Swansea, where Lowri spent a lot of time surfing when she was little with her friends, so I knew it was a special place for her. There were many options on locations, but I wanted Low to be near her family and friends to celebrate afterwards (a bit presumptuous she’d say yes, hehe). Jason had arranged for a sand artist to draw WILL YOU MARRY ME? on the sand, it was huge and had to be timed to perfection for the tide times. As we walked along the cliffs (Low blindfolded and panicking, she had NO idea), when we looked down, Jason got down on one knee and being in the film, it was, of course, a full on production, a drone above our heads, a photographer in the bush and a full on speech by Jason which Lowri can’t remember.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

The mood and style for our day were refined glamour, modern romance and electric energy with mouth-watering floral masterpieces. We had 5 musicians throughout the day, all representing different stages of the wedding, including the king’s voice choir on our arrival with cream and soft pink confetti tying in well with Lowri’s huge bouquet of soft flexed roses, orchids and peonies.

We had two bars; we had a bright orange floral display with oranges scattered underneath for our Aperol Spritz bar, which was really special.

Our wedding breakfast inspiration was dreamy, cosy vibes with flexed roses and orchids for our centrepieces, candles stretched along two long tables, drapes hanging to make it an intimate and romantic dinner setting with oat linen tablecloths and personalised napkins with each guest’s initials.

Our transportation was aligned with the style of our day with a cream London double-decker bus and a matching cream London cab for us. We wanted the day to feel fun, so on here, we made sure the playlists were pre-selected for our guests, filled with mini Moet and our videographer was there to catch the moment of them from Chelsea to Brixton.

Everything was captured on film and digital for that timeless but also grainy and rich colours.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Our attitude to most things in life is that if you’re going to do something, do it right and have no regrets, so we went for it. We definitely went over budget, but every decision was worth it. We wanted to make sure our guests had the best time, having the best mix of musicians, great catering which we took a lot of time in choosing and having two fully stocked bars with a full cocktail menu. Aesthetically, we also wanted the venue’s furniture to be aligned with our style and design, so we brought in our own glasses and furniture and added drapes, disco balls and greenery where possible.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

We were very lucky that we had an incredible wedding planner, Olivia from Isla and Smith; they were so across everything that they really made the day a dream. Our London retro bus that took our guests from Chelsea to the reception took a wrong turn which made them half an hour late, so we were worried it would be too hot for them on the bus or it would feel dragged out, but everyone said it was like a party on there, drinks were flowing, music pumping, they all loved it!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

For both of us, we wanted to go for a timeless look and to be able to look back in years to come and think, “Oh, I’d wear that again now.” Although this was a conscious decision, we both remained true to our style today and don’t regret a thing. We took our time choosing our outfits which we think is really important too, and once purchased, we never looked back
