Britt is a vocalist and Jefferson is a photographer. We met on Instagram! Jefferson proposed while we watched the sunset at Uluru. It was absolutely magical getting engaged at the Heart of Australia.
We both love the mountains, which is why we decided to get married amongst them, in New Zealand. We had a small wedding, with 35 guests, and the day was exactly how we wanted it to be – an intimate gathering of all the people we consider family.
We stayed at the stunning Lake Hawea View Airbnb for the weekend and had both the ceremony and reception there. We had a tipi set up for the reception, which was covered in dried flowers and string lights.
Our ceremony was very raw and intimate. I don’t believe there was a dry eye there! We had fires set up around the site for guests to mill around and enjoy the delicious local food and wines, which were served out of the sweetest little caravan bar. We helicoptered up to Coromandel Peak for our bridal photos, the view left us absolutely breathless.
We are both Christians, and marriage for us is a covenant between ourselves and God. We see it as the most precious gift – and we see each other in this way too. One of the most moving and memorable moments was singing a beautiful hymn with all of our guests at the ceremony while looking out over Lake Hawea to the mountains. At the end of the night, we released lanterns into the sky. This was a sight we will never forget and something our friends always bring up as one of their fondest memories. We are the very best of friends and so far, marriage has been the most fun and greatest adventure we have ever been on.
