Jordan + Teddy by Wild Whim

Nearly 5 years later, back at the same restaurant by the water, I asked Jordan if she would do me the honor of being my wife – and she accepted!

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
JJ – Teddy is in tech sales and is the lead guitar player for the Booker T Jones band. I am the Sales Director for a luxury textile design company in Los Angeles. When I can, I like to travel the world with the band or we like to travel for fun! In Los Angeles, we love to take our little dog Miloh on walks and relax at the beach.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
TJ – We met at a small restaurant near the water in Playa Del Rey on a warm Tuesday night. Despite becoming aware of one another through mutual Tinder swipes, we felt a sense of reverie that we weren’t expecting. Reverie grew into companionship, companionship grew into love.

JJ – When we walked up to the restaurant we were both in matching outfits. I was immediately attracted to him but our chemistry throughout the night was undeniable.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
TJ – Nearly 5 years later, back at the same restaurant by the water, I asked Jordan if she would do me the honor of being my wife – and she accepted!

JJ – He proposed on our 4 year anniversary so I thought the special treatment throughout the day and the rose petals leading to the dinner table was for this occasion. I was completely surprised he got down on one knee and popped the question! It was very romantic that he took me to the same restaurant where we first laid eyes on one another.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
JJ – I envisioned a modern and whimsical garden party for our wedding. I wanted a timeless, tonal palette – we went with honey, caramel, soft peach, ivory, dusty rose and ecru. Our outdoor venue spoke for itself so I didn’t want to distract from it – deep in Malibu overlooking the mountains it felt like we had been transported to the countryside in Italy. We played with organic shapes and textures giving it a romantic and ethereal vibe.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
JJ – We knew we wanted to splurge on an open bar for our guests. We wanted everyone to have fun and enjoy the party! We also splurged on photography, knowing we would have these keepsakes forever.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
We postponed our wedding due to COVID-19 and had been planning the wedding for almost two and a half years. Planning had been stressful but once the wedding day finally arrived, everything was absolutely perfect.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
JJ – I wanted to keep my jewelry simple because my ceremony dress was a showstopper. I wore these beautiful drop down pearl earrings, featuring 3 pearls on each one. The original dress had off the shoulder sleeves and 3D flowers on the bust that I had removed. I loved how the unique lace sparkled in the sun and it was perfect for our outdoor venue. I knew when I saw my reception dress that I HAD to have it. The shape of the dress, puffy and large bow in the back reminded me of a garden party.

TJ – I knew I wanted to purchase my tux from Suit Supply. This is where I find all of my favorite suits.
