Julia + Nic by Amanda Pool Photo

We adored the location of our wedding.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We are Julia and Nic! Julia is finishing up graduate school in 2026 for her Masters in Psychology and is a therapist. Nic works within Commercial Real Estate investment banking. We live in San Francisco with our perfect three-year-old dog named Gus. We absolutely love being outside as much as possible and are grateful to live two blocks from the beautiful San Francisco Bay.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met in August of 2017, and met one night in San Francisco. We had an instant connection, but life had other plans and led us in different directions. Nic to Spain to play professional water polo, and Julia to Austin and then Seattle for her job. While life brought us to different places, there were a few moments where we ran into one another throughout the next few years, and those moments stood out. In 2020, in the middle of COVID, Julia moved to San Francisco to pursue ongoing education, and happened to move two blocks away from Nic. We were stuck together from the moment we reconnected, and although 3 years had passed, it felt like no time at all. The rest was history!

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

We adored the location of our wedding – we wanted to be outside as much as possible and wanted the weekend to feel authentically ‘us’. We valued the energy we hoped the weekend would have as the highest importance, and aimed to build the vibe to emulate the energy we envisioned. Our #1 goal was to get married on the beach – a place where we fell in love in San Francisco, and an ode to the beauty and messiness of life and our relationship together.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

Our photographer, Amanda Pool, was truly our rockstar throughout the entire journey. She was such an advocate for us and made the day feel much more seamless by being with us every step of the way. All of our vendors stepped up in the intense weather and brought lovely energy!

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

Engagement ring: The first ring Julia tried on and fell in love with was a five-stone ring with antique diamonds and a grey diamond centre stone. It ended up being the one we chose.

Wedding bands: Julia and Nic have 5mm 18k matching wedding bands; Julia’s is gold with diamonds, and Nic’s is gold. The similarity of the wedding bands felt special to both of them.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

Florals – Bright, funky, matching the natural scenery but adding some colour

Food –

  • Casual, fun, special, we both lived in Spain, so we thought paella would be fun
  • Ice cream and cotton candy for dessert
  • Oysters and seafood felt like they incorporated the oceanfront setting, and Julia & Nic adore seafood

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

We had a torrential downpour on the day before the wedding – 2 inches of rain in 12 hours, which didn’t contribute to our vision of being married on the beach too well. The morning of the wedding, we woke up at the first sign of light and ran down to the beach to see if the path was feasible to ask our guests to walk down. It was our luck that, although a bit muddy, we thought it would be okay. It was truly magic that just as the rain stopped, our ceremony began, and much to our luck, the clouds parted and gave us 20 minutes of warm and radiant sun just in time for our ceremony. It was a moment we will never forget, and such a special one to have all of our people with us for.
