We wanted a relaxed wedding in the British countryside but with a nod to Anton’s Jamaican heritage.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We are both stunt performers – Anton’s background was in martial arts, and Katie’s was in parkour. When we’re not doing stunt work or training, we’re usually doing up our home in West London or working on our clothing brand.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met on the set of Star Wars IX; however, we didn’t chat that much while we were on that production, despite being part of the same team for months! The following year we both got asked to double superheroes in Eternals and that’s when we actually got chatting more and realized there could be more than just friendship on the horizon!
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
It’s hard to pinpoint a specific moment, but we both found that we could be completely ourselves around each other. Somewhere along the line, we couldn’t imagine life without each other – so I guess that’s when we knew it was a forever thing!
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
We got engaged during a weekend away in Sorrento. While we were there, Anton hired a little private boat to take us around Capri. When we reached Faraglioni (known as the ‘arch of love’), our skipper suggested he should take our photo. Just as he was about to take our photo, Anton hit play on our favourite track and got down on not one, but TWO knees (for stability as it was really quite rocky) and popped the question!
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.
We wanted a relaxed wedding in the British countryside but with a nod to Anton’s Jamaican heritage. While we both liked tradition, we didn’t want the day to feel too formal, with the priority being that our family and friends all had a really fun day.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
The entertainment! We had an incredible gospel choir (Big Gospel Choir) who performed at various points throughout the day. We loved that during the evening, they were up on the dancefloor with all of our guests and were truly a part of the party. During the canapes, we had a steel pan trio (Steel Pan in Motion) perform, which added a Caribbean flare to the afternoon. In the evening, we had a DJ (Wiley Vibes) and a Saxophonist (Matthew Middleton) who absolutely smashed the brief we gave them. And then, as a surprise for our guests, as a little nod to where we met, during the party, we had dancing stormtroopers (Boogiestorm) come out and do a quick performance, including breakdancing and flips, before joining our guests on the dancefloor.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
Katie’s ring wasn’t ready in time! Not ideal… I’m not sure if we quite laugh about it yet, but it certainly didn’t get in the way of us having the best day ever!
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Anton’s suit was made by Owen Scott Bespoke – a company that had made a bespoke suit for him in the past. He really liked the quality and fit of what they’d created for him before, so it seemed like a good choice for his wedding tux.
Katie’s dress was actually two Suzanne Neville dresses put together. She loved the top half of their Coworth dress but wasn’t super keen on the idea of having a high slit in the skirt. After a few failed attempts to find dresses similar to the Coworth but without the slit, she had an appointment with Miss Bush in Ripley and explained her dilemma. This was not a problem for Miss Bush, who told Katie that if there was another Suzanne Neville dress with a skirt she loved, they could contact Suzanne and see if they could create a custom dress for her… which they did! So, the top half ended up being the Coworth, and the bottom half was from Madison.
