Kelsey + Andreas by Emily Rose Hamilton

We emphasised a chic aesthetic and colour palette of neutrals, accentuated with a few pops of colour.

Kelsey —— Andreas and I met in New York in 2017 through a mutual friend. Andreas had been on a date, and I’d been dragged to drinks after a long day at work. Fortunately, his date didn’t go so well! We fancied each other and had a good conversation but nothing more. A few weeks later, we met up with friends and eventually booked a trip to LA, which turned out to be one of the most magical and memorable trips. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Buddhists say that when you meet your soulmate you don’t feel butterflies, but instead feel a profound sense of peacefulness and safety. That was true for us; it just felt right. Andreas proposed in the South of France in the gardens of Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat. It was a surprise when he knelt down on one knee.

Our vision for the wedding was all about the environment. Our venue was in the quaint fishing village of Fjällbacka in Sweden. Scandinavian simplicity was a big component. We emphasised a chic aesthetic and colour palette of neutrals, accentuated with a few pops of colour.

Our biggest splurge was the food and drinks: we wanted to treat our guests to a full Michelin-starred immersive experience. Sweden’s chef of the year, Christian Hellberg, created our menu with us and prepared all the food. That included a four-course menu focused heavily on locally sourced ingredients such as crayfish soup and halibut carpaccio with caviar, as well as a cake made by Josefine Pagander, Sweden’s pastry chef of the year.

I always envisioned myself walking down the aisle in a classic, timeless gown, and I wanted that princess moment without a big ballgown style. I chose a stunning Monique Lhuillier fitted lace dress along with a removable long sleeve jacket. I loved the neckline, the fabric and how well the dress fit. Since I opted for a fitted gown with a small train, I wanted a dramatic veil to pair with it. I ended up having the veil custom-made by Mark Ingram Atelier in New York, who paired the perfect lace and tulle to give me the cathedral-length veil of my dreams.

For the reception, I removed the jacket and changed into a custom-made piece by Chynna Pope Atelier, who also did all my alterations. As a grand finale for the after party, I did a complete change into an incredible silver sequinned Gucci dress from Alessandro Michele’s final collection. I paired it with platform Gucci shoes and danced the night away!
