Kendi + Jet by Crystal Cousin Photo

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We are from southwest Oklahoma, where we went to rival high schools. We secretly liked each other for 4 years before we finally got the courage to admit it to each other.

Here in Oklahoma, life is all about hunting and fishing. Our first dates were spent fishing at Jet’s pond. We have always loved time in the outdoors, so eloping on top of a mountain was perfect for us.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

We originally planned a big wedding in Oklahoma, but decided to ditch our plans and the stress that came with it, to elope in New Mexico. I always dreamed of a winter wedding, so I was so happy to find that there was snow on top of the mountain.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I picked out my dream dress at Brilliant Bridal Dallas. I was able to take my dress home that same day, so it worked out perfectly when we decided to elope. Jet, being last minute per usual, picked up his jacket from Dillard’s the day before our elopement. His tie, which was purchased 3 hours before our elopement, was from Men’s Warehouse.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

Something that I will always cherish is the time we got to spend getting ready together. Since we eloped, we were able to take our time getting ourselves ready in our hotel, where we got to share our excitement for the day. My favorite part of the elopement was when we went to Whataburger afterwards. We had told Crystal that we planned on grabbing Whataburger because it was our favorite place, and she graciously offered to come along and take pictures of us. It captured our relationship perfectly.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

If you’re contemplating on eloping, do it. The stress of a big wedding is definitely not for everyone. Your special day should be based solely on your love for each other. Love is truly all you need to have a successful wedding day, whether there’s two people there or two hundred.
