We wanted everything to be perfect, and it was truly magical.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We’re both in the healthcare profession. I’m a dentist, and my husband is an advanced GI physician. We both love what we do. Iman loves sports, tennis and soccer and is extremely social and outgoing. I’m more artsy, love to paint, draw, and design and am definitely more of an introvert. Initially, what drew me towards him was he brought me out of my shell and really made exploring, travelling, socializing and going out so much more appealing and fun. Now living in NYC, we go out to dinner a few times a week, and we have travelled to many parts of the world together.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
Through friends in NYC.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
Very early on, we both knew that it was very serious from the beginning. We really connected even on our first date, I remember we were talking for 4/5 hours that first date and we started seeing each other 3-4 times a week soon after and everything just made sense. About a year after we got engaged and 1.5 years later, we had our wedding! And now we are expecting our baby boy.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
The proposal was overlooking the NYC skyline on a private boat, which was super romantic and unexpected. We were taking a trip to Greece/France 2 weeks after, and I thought he was proposing in Europe and was completely caught off guard!
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
Everything that went into the wedding was definitely costly, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime memory. We wanted everything to be perfect, and it was truly magical. It was a night that we will forever cherish.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
I was the most stressed about the traditional ceremony. I wanted everything to be executed perfectly, and a few moments caused some hiccups, but in hindsight, we laugh about it now, and it was a fun memory.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story? The history of the ceremony dress…
The traditional Persian ceremony involves sofreh aghd, and there are many elements in the ceremony that really speak to us and our culture. We loved having this intimate part of the wedding.
