Laura + Corentin by Clarisse & Johan

It was really special because he had planned with the museum to do it when it was close and empty. I obviously said yes, and we had the whole museum for ourselves.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We both love the outdoors and sports, Corentin loves to play tennis, and we both do a lot of Climbing and hiking.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met 3 years ago, he managed to take my number as we were both in the same whatsapp group. He very boldly called me and asked me for a drink. We met 3 times, but there wasn’t a great connection, and then summer came, and nothing really happened. Months later, I saw him again, and at that time, something had really shifted. We texted every day and saw each other a lot for 2 months and after 2 months we made this official, I and he met my family 3 months after this and the following summer we knew we would never fall apart and wanted to get married and be in each other’s future.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

It was very quick in our relationship at many different times:

– One very random day, not doing anything in particular but just loving his presence and the simplicity it was.

– Talking to a friend who asked me that question and telling her that I never had the thought of wanting to end this.

– Seeing him with my nieces and nephews (there are 9 of them and seeing how much fun and nice he was to them)…

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

The proposal happened on the 27th of december. I was at my parent’s house, and the idea was to ice skate in the morning, and Corentin was to meet us there. As we were going out to the cars, Corentin was there and asked me to jump on his motorbike and not to ask any questions.

We went to a place not too far from my parents house that i love with a beautiful view of the Eiffel tower and gave me a letter. The whole day, we went to different places that were very meaningful and just nice, but it always started with a letter where I had to guess what was about to happen. We ended the day at the Musée Jacquemart-André, one of my favourite museums in Paris. It was quite late during the day, and the people were asking us to leave. Before we left, he took my hand to go back to the room called “le jardin d’hiver” (winter garden room); it’s a very beautiful place in the museum. He started by giving me a speech and then asked for my hand. It was really special because he had planned with the museum to do it when it was close and empty. I obviously said yes, and we had the whole museum for ourselves.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

We really wanted to get married in the south of France as it’s a place we both love. We fell in love with the Chateau Puech-Haut, it’s a vineyard with many olive trees (my favourite tree) and it was perfect. As for the mood, we wanted to be in a beautiful place where we need no decoration for it and keep it simple with flowers only.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Anything that brings memories, this is why we wanted the best photographers, we were so happy to have videographers to relive the day. And we had the best DJs, which is so important for the fun of the party.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

It wasn’t during the wedding, but the day before, my sister insisted that I go do my lashes; I wasn’t too sure because I really like to stay “simple”, and I don’t always like fake lashes. I decided to try, it took 2 hours, and I hated it so much, it wasn’t me. I thought I looked awful and had to ask the kind lady to take it all off (no regrets), but I didn’t laugh at it on the day, but I am laughing now.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

I picked this dress with my sisters and mother, it was so special. I wanted something very “tight” yet elegant and mostly temporal. What I really loved about this dress was the neckline. Corentin had always wanted to get married in a double breasted suit.
