Lee & Stacey by Michael Schultz Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We’re two very different people, but we both really care about each other, and we think that’s all that matters.

We met on my first day at uni and both noticed each other right away. Lee actually stalked me down on social media and started leaving me anonymous messages. I figured out who my secret admirer was, he took me on a date and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We wanted to find a venue that felt like the perfect size for our small group, and we wanted to keep things simple. Having a short engagement helped us to achieve that – we just didn’t have time to overthink things and go overboard. Our tastes are quite modern so the styling naturally went in that direction. We loved the simplicity of the bright white reception space and the natural greenery in the courtyard where the ceremony was held, so we only brought in a few black and white elements, some wood tones and lots of clear acrylic. Everyone sat together at one long table and shared plates, Harry Potter Great Hall Feast style. Our menu cards were even titled “The Feast”.

Tell us about your main outfits: Lee asked me what I thought he should wear, and went with my very first suggestion – a full black suit. He had a friend at Thomson’s Suits help him pick it out and get everything perfectly fitted. I stopped looking at dresses as soon as I saw Francois from Hera Couture. It was everything I know I feel comfortable in – off-shoulder, a-line, pockets! It truly was my dream dress, and the minimal design allowed me to wear a killer floral veil from Tania Maras.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

We got married on our 7 year anniversary. Our nephews threw rose petals from Lee’s mum’s garden (and later tried to escape into a nearby field). We had a very low-key reception with no speeches planned, but the best man stood up and surprised us with something very humorous yet heartfelt. My little brother and only sibling passed away when we were just kids. I knew I wanted to have him with me in some way on the day, so I had a charm made for my bouquet in his memory. It’s my favourite keepsake from the day.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Live life for yourselves and not for others. And when shit hits the fan, remember that it’s the two of you vs. the problem, not each other.
