Lindsey + Hunter by Dana Maruna

Our venue at Tlaquepaque in Sedona is a work of art in and of itself.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We are a physician and a real estate agent by trade, but God called us both into full-time ministry about 2 years ago. Hunter is pursuing his second master’s in theology in the fall at the University of St Andrews. We love God, love people, and love the local church.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met in Scottsdale, AZ while serving our young adults ministry at church in February of 2024. We were both drawn to each other’s intelligence and quickly connected over shared interests, but we remained only friends for almost two years before dating. We both ended up on full-time staff at our church, and quickly realised we were more than just friends. We were dating for 4 months when Hunter proposed, and married 2 months later. Truly a story of God’s perfect timing.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

Our venue at Tlaquepaque in Sedona is a work of art in and of itself. We were immediately drawn to the look and feel of the space. It felt as though we were transported to Europe just a short drive from home. Everything we planned was with the intent to complement the existing beauty of the venue.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

We have to give all planning credit to our incredible wedding planner and designer, Arabella. We were able to focus our short engagement season on preparing for our marriage while she handled every detail of the wedding. My biggest piece of advice would be to invest more time in the marriage than the wedding. The wedding is a day, and marriage is for life. We feel so blessed that working with Arabella allowed us the time and energy to invest in each other throughout the engagement season.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

We truly feel as though we hit the jackpot with an absolute dream team. Of course, Arabella as our designer and full planner deserves all the accolades. Our content team was also incredible, with Dana (@danamarunaphoto) leading the charge as our photographer for 3 full events over two days, our content creator Mya (@got.hitched), and our videographer Kylie (@kyliefilmsss). We truly can’t imagine a better team to capture such a special day, and we have been drooling over every piece of content we’ve seen so far. Our friends and family have not stopped talking about how good our food was from Sedona Catering Company, and Eden was so great to work with. Lastly, our vintage Photo Booth (@filmandframebooth) was such a fun addition to our day that everyone loved. I could easily list every vendor; our team was amazing

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

I actually picked out my wedding dress from Sarah Seven NYC the day I got engaged. We knew we were going to get married, but the engagement hadn’t happened yet. I always dreamed of going wedding dress shopping in NYC, so I planned a trip with three of my best friends and my mom. We started at Sarah Seven NYC, and I found the dress of my dreams. Unbeknownst to me, Hunter was flying across the country from Scottsdale, AZ to surprise me and propose that same night. It was truly the most magical, intentional, and special proposal I could have ever imagined. It still doesn’t feel real when I tell the story. My dress was also a new addition to Sarah Seven’s latest collection. Since I put a rush on it, I was the first bride to ever wear that design. A small detail that made the dress feel even more magical.

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

Hunter worked with a local jeweler (L.Trapp Jewelry Design) to create a custom engagement ring and wedding band based on what we both liked. He chose an elongated radiant cut centre stone set with white gold prongs on a yellow gold cigar band. The engagement ring band houses hidden pavé diamonds on both sides, which is my favourite detail. For the wedding band, he designed an infinity band set with emerald cut stones, perfectly complementing the engagement ring. His wedding band is a Tiffany 1837 sterling silver band.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

From the beginning, a family-style meal was really important to us. We believe in the beauty of breaking bread with friends, family and community, and we really wanted to spend intentional time around the table with the people we love and a good meal. We knew this may cost a bit more than a plated meal or buffet style, but I’m so glad we didn’t compromise. Our guests are still talking about how amazing the meal was.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

One of our favourite moments was walking into the reception space after the ceremony for the first time. Seeing how beautiful every detail came together was astonishing to both of us. We truly didn’t think a wedding of this calibre or beauty was possible with a 10-week engagement.

What does being married mean to you, and are there any special rituals you have that you would like to share?

Marriage is a covenant we made with each other before the eyes of God. It is two people becoming one flesh, never to separate. When we stood at the altar, we vowed to die to ourselves and sacrifice our own individual desires for one another. We vowed to keep God at the centre of our marriage, which includes praying together daily, reading and studying the Bible together, and serving our local church. We give all glory and honour to God for our marriage and all we accomplish on this side of Heaven.
