Lucinda + Oliver by Jackson Grant

Oliver: I’m a stock and station agent. When we first met, Lucy was working behind the coffee machine in a cafe she had opened at the age of 22. We were both newly single, living alone, and we both owned dogs.

I suggested we take our dogs for a walk together one afternoon. Lucy was very shy and quiet but we continued having small conversations over the coming weeks. One day, Lucy left a container of homemade caramel slice on my veranda, with her number on it.

The day I proposed started out like a regular Saturday. Lucy didn’t have a clue what was about to take place. I took her for lunch at a nearby winery, then we took a picnic blanket and a drink to sit under the cottonwoods by a river on my family farm. I got increasingly sweaty palms and Lucy spilled a glass of wine over me and the blanket. When we decided to move to a sunnier spot, I got down on one knee with the ring in my hand. She said yes, and we shared dinner and celebrated with family that evening.

I love the way Lucy looks at the world. I love her innocence and caring nature. She is often unfiltered, and I find it endearing and hilarious. We have been lucky enough to travel much of the world together and our adventures have given us plenty of great memories.

Lucinda: I love being able to share experiences with Oliver. He is great at communicating his feelings and beliefs, and this helps us continue to grow as a couple. I love his generosity and playfulness. Most of all, I love the way he loves me. It’s the best feeling in the world.

It was a treat to be married on Oliver’s family farm. We combined black tie with an art deco theme, in a casual setting: a farm cocktail party. We love to dance so didn’t have any formal seating plans. After the ceremony, buses took all our guests to the town hall and we jumped in our Cadillac with the photographer. The whole day went by in a flash, so it was nice to stop and enjoy it as a couple for a few minutes.
