Nikki + Justin by Feather and Finch

We know there are so many couples out there who are planning their wedding during the pandemic and we are sending so many positive vibes your way. Regardless of what happens, your day will be perfect.

Justin and I grew up in opposite ends of Sydney. I’m from the south and he’s from the north. We met working at the same advertising agency in Sydney. For the first year or two, we would rarely cross paths. It’s funny to look back on our casual chats in the printing room.

One Friday, a few of us went out for drinks to blow off some steam. After a little flirting, Justin and I ended up sharing a kiss on the dancefloor. We decided to go on our first official date the next weekend and we’ve never looked back.

We were down in Tasmania when Justin proposed. After a few days spent in Hobart, we went on a road trip to Freycinet National Park and the Bay of Fires. A friend had told Justin about the breathtaking view at the top of Mt Amos. What he failed to mention was how difficult the climb is. Midway up, both of us sweating profusely, I turned to Justin and said: “You better bloody marry me after this.” At the top, the view was just as beautiful as promised. Justin pulled the ring out of his bag and popped the question. We enjoyed the trek down a lot more!

I was skimming through the Zimmermann sale rack and there it was: my dress. I tried it on and instantly fell in love with its sleeves and classic button cuffs. After saving money, I naturally bought a second dress. This time, a long white sequin Retrofete gown with a slit up the right leg. It certainly helped me dance the night away!

Covid-19 threw a few challenges our way. We initially planned to get married on the New South Wales’ north coast with 130 guests, but had to bring the wedding closer to home and reduce our numbers. We wanted it to feel like a big garden party. At the ceremony, we had bamboo directors’ chairs and a seagrass runner for an aisle. We had baby’s breath and a neutral colour palette, which worked so beautifully with the bridal party’s outfits. Covid restrictions meant we could only have 30 people dancing at the same time but that didn’t stop us from partying the night away. We took turns ripping up the dancefloor. Everyone’s feet were sore in the morning. We know there are so many couples out there who are planning their wedding during the pandemic and we are sending so many positive vibes your way. Regardless of what happens, your day will be perfect.
