Ode to the Ocean

New Zealand’s coastline becomes a muse for modern heirlooms.

Partridge’s new high jewellery collection is inspired by the beauty and mythology of New Zealand’s seas.

Partridge unveils its latest high jewellery chapter, Ode to the Ocean, a collection shaped by the colour, movement and quiet poetry of New Zealand’s surrounding waters. These one-of-a-kind creations, designed by Senior Jewellery Designer Andrea Lethiers, honour the sea as muse, memory and elemental force.

The palette is unmistakably oceanic, a sweep of emerald, sapphire and aquamarine tones that recalls everything from the crystalline shallows of Cathedral Cove to the shifting contours of marine life. Lethiers drew inspiration from early childhood encounters with the coast, moments where the natural world felt both magical and unknowable. “Watching the way a wave folds, the shimmer of sunlight beneath the surface, the thrill of finding something beautiful in the sand. We wanted every jewel to feel alive,” she shares.

Each gemstone has been hand-selected by fifth-generation Managing Director Grant Partridge and his specialist team, ensuring that every piece echoes the raw purity and emotional resonance of the ocean itself. Sri Lankan sapphires, Colombian emeralds, luminous Santa Maria aquamarines and vivid Paraiba tourmalines anchor the collection. “High jewellery is where craftsmanship and imagination meet,” says Partridge. “With Ode to the Ocean, we wanted to create heirloom pieces imbued with a sense of place. Each stone was chosen for its rarity, its beauty and the emotion it stirs. The collection reflects our landscape and the legacy behind every Partridge creation.”

What emerges is a suite of sculptural, deeply expressive jewels that feel both contemporary and timeless, each with its own story to tell.

The Collection

Cova

An ode to the glassy waters of Cathedral Cove. A 1.38ct pear-shaped Paraiba tourmaline sits at the centre, framed by diamonds that recall sunlight dancing across a wave’s crest.

Sirène

Inspired by the organic shimmer of fish scales, this piece features a 1.59ct princess-cut Zambian emerald. Pavé diamonds and tsavorites ripple across platinum, enriched by a wash of black rhodium for dramatic depth.

Venus

A nostalgic tribute to beachside discoveries. A 1.75ct Colombian emerald is nestled within a sculptural scallop-shell silhouette of yellow gold and platinum, finished with delicate diamond accents.

Marina

Evoking the movement of schooling fish, Marina centres an 8.10ct oval Santa Maria aquamarine encircled by pavé diamonds in platinum.

Aphrodite

A contemporary exploration of texture and light. Brilliant diamonds appear suspended across a sea of blue pavé sapphires, anchored by a 2.87ct cushion-cut Santa Maria aquamarine.

Neptune Drop Earrings

Fluid, elegant forms shaped as though by water itself. Pear-shaped Santa Maria aquamarines fall from pavé diamonds and sapphire cabochons.

Neptune Ring

Curved and tactile, like water slipping between the fingers. A 2.66ct pear-shaped Santa Maria aquamarine is framed by pavé diamonds and sapphire cabochons.

Ondine

A union of scallop-shell curves and swirling wave forms. At its centre glows a 2.02ct oval Sri Lankan sapphire, surrounded by 180 pavé sapphires, Paraiba tourmalines and diamonds in platinum. A kaleidoscope of ocean colour.
