We loved the idea of an early autumn wedding, due to the amazing colours and stillness at that time of year.
Olivia —— Sam works for a commercial property investment firm, and I work for a beautiful New Zealand furniture company. We are back living in Christchurch now, having built our first home. Sam and I are both family and friend-orientated people and love spending time with our young son, August, and dog, Molly. We met at the end of 2016. Some of our friends had organised a ‘races’ afternoon in Auckland. My first impressions of Sam were that he was easy to chat to, selfless, a person willing to try new things, and someone who was always friendly to everyone.
Sam —— My first impressions of Olivia were WOW! Bright, colourful and beautiful. It didn’t take long to see how smart and ambitious she was too, and how well-loved she was by her friends.
Olivia —— I had always envisioned a classic, traditional wedding. I am lucky enough to have previously worked for Juliette Hogan, looking after Juliette Hogan Bridal, so I had thought a lot about what my wedding would be like. Juliette is a dear friend, and I absolutely love her eye for fabrication, fit, print and silhouette. Juliette’s art director and design lead Alice was one of my bridesmaids, and the two of them created my dream dress. I’m a huge fan of Juliette’s prints, and loved the colours and flowers in the summer solstice silk print, and the shape suited all of the bridesmaids so well.
Sam and I have spent a lot of time in Wanaka and Queenstown, so getting married in this area was really special for us. We loved the idea of an early autumn wedding, due to the amazing colours and stillness at that time of year. We were extremely lucky to be married at Stoneridge Estate by our dear friends Suzanne and Wayne, the owners. Their property is extraordinary; the buildings, garden and views are simply incredible. We were married on the lawn next to the chapel, and our reception was held in the Hayes room.
Having a wonderful photographer was key for us and Alpine Image Co was the company we wanted. We couldn’t be happier with the images Jen captured.
Sam —— The main thing we couldn’t plan for on the day was Augie’s arrival! He was driven up the aisle in a remote-control Jeep Wrangler he’d been gifted a few weeks earlier. While he usually loves it, he screamed the whole way! Poor wee guy hadn’t seen his Mum and Dad all day and I think he was overwhelmed by all the faces watching him. We will tell him about it in years to come and I am sure he will laugh about it too!
