Ovaries. Talk About Them.

A movement to protect the future of women’s health

Ovarian cancer is often called the silent killer. It whispers rather than shouts, hiding symptoms until it is advanced and far harder to treat. By then, too many options are already lost. Unlike other major cancers, there is still no reliable, routine test to find it early — and the absence of one costs lives every single day.

By 2050, diagnoses are expected to rise by more than 55%, and annual deaths could reach nearly 445,000 worldwide. It is a crisis, but one we have the power to change.

That change is being driven by Ovaries. Talk About Them., a bold initiative created by Australian fashion house CAMILLA AND MARC. Since launching in 2019, the campaign has raised over $2.5 million to fund groundbreaking research, with every dollar going directly to the development of the world’s first early detection test for ovarian cancer.

Led by Professor Caroline Ford and her all-female team at the UNSW Gynaecological Cancer Research Group, this work is on the brink of a breakthrough. In 2024, the researchers identified three DNA biomarkers that are unique to ovarian cancer cells. The current focus is on a process called multiplexing — combining these biomarkers into a single, highly sensitive blood test. This is the last step before clinical trials begin in 2026.

The goal is as beautiful as it is urgent: a simple test that can detect ovarian cancer early, when it is most treatable and curable. Professor Ford calls it “the home stretch” of a journey that could transform women’s health for generations.

CAMILLA AND MARC have stripped this year’s collection back to its purest form: clean lines, minimal design, strong typography. The message takes centre stage. Every piece is a conversation starter, a statement of solidarity, and a way to fund the final push towards a life-saving test.

For Together Journal, this cause feels deeply personal. Our readers are mothers, sisters, daughters, friends. We are a community of women who understand the quiet strength that comes from standing together. This campaign is about more than fashion. It is about rewriting the future for women everywhere.

We are asking you to join us. Wear the T-shirt. Make a donation. Share the words. Because this is the moment to turn whispers into voices, and voices into change.

The CAMILLA AND MARC Ovaries. Talk About Them. collection is available in-store and online from 25 August. It all begins with ovaries — and it continues with us.
