Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

Our adventure together started in high school. What began as a high school romance, has now blossomed into a beautiful family, with our 2.5 year old son, Atlas, and our two beautiful dogs, Koda and Kiara. I think, what Dan and I share the most, is our love for making memories.

We have shared some incredible adventures together – from feeling the trembling of an earthquake beneath out feet while snow-mobiling on a mountain in Japan, to watching the sun set over the desert in rural India and all of the road trips and adventures in between (not to forget the we almost capsized a canoe in crocodile infested water in Nepal!). I think we’ll be making these incredible memories together for the rest of our lives.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

Our original wedding was going to be in May in the national park of Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. I had purchased my Unreal Fur Jacket and Jonnie (Doc Martin Style) shoes in preparation for the *hopefully* freezing whether which would accompany us on our hike through the mountain to get incredible adventure wedding photos. When Covid interfered, we decided we would get married in QLD, but with the same feeling of being intertwined with nature. We wanted the ceremony to be as intimate as possible. In my eyes, sharing my deepest thoughts with the person I want to spend forever with should be just that – simply between us. We were lucky enough to have our immediate family with us in that special moment. Everything about the day was so us. I had been creating a playlist for years with songs Dan & I shared – and this accompanied me down the aisle and through the ceremony. The rainforest setting was incredibly beautiful and intimate, and the dim forest lighting just added more romance to the already emotional day.

After the ceremony, we took a 4WD bus to our second destination to enjoy some light food and soak in the beauty of the day. The views were absolutely incredible, and it was so nice to be able to take a breath and enjoy the moment.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I was determined not to have a really traditional bridal gown, or spend the money that often accompanies those dresses. I purchased my dress from ASOS – and it was so perfect for me. I loved that it did represent some of the traditional aspects of a wedding dress while also remaining true to me and my style. My beautiful sister-in-law did my hair and make-up, which I absolutely loved. This also made for an intimate as I was able to spend all of my time with the ones I love.

Daniel chose a lovely linen top and suit pants both from Hallenstein Brothers, which we matched to our Son, Atlas. What a view it was to walk down the aisle to the two men in my life.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

My mum and dad both walked me down the aisle. That was a really important time for me. My parents have been separated for a while now, but getting to spend that time together with just the two of them was so special to me and brought back a lot of emotions. As we walked down the steps into the rainforest setting, I can still picture the emotion on Dans face. It was so beautiful.

Everything about the day was so memorable. However, I am so glad we chose Ryan from Feather and Finch Photography to spend our day with us. Dan and I are both equally awkward in front of the camera, however he made the whole day seem so natural. He was amazing to spend time with, and the photos we received afterward were incredible. Photos, to me, were almost the most important part of the day, and I’ll be forever grateful we went with the photographer we loved the most. I’ll never forget how we got to walk barefoot through the forest, or the way the clouds enclosed around us while the sun set over the mountains.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

I suppose it is different for everyone, however I absolutely loved the intimacy of our wedding. I didn’t feel the need to check in on everyone to see how they were going, or the expectation to be the life of the party. Having only our immediate family as guests meant we could choose the food, music and activities WE wanted (because, hey, they’ll deal) and it also meant we didn’t feel bad when we spent time away from the guest for photographs etc.

But, I suppose, my main advice would be to just do it how you want it. It’s a day for the two of you, not everyone else. It’s a day you’ll remember for the rest of your lives. So, if you don’t want a big wedding – don’t have a big wedding! If you want to elope – elope! If you want a BBQ – have a BBQ! (Just make sure you get a good photographer so you can remember it for the years to come).
