Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Jono currently works as a first officer (pilot) and I work in recruitment. We actually met on Tinder a few years ago when I was living down in Christchurch and he was down on a work trip.

We messaged each other for a couple of months before finally meeting in person. After that we were pretty much inseparable, and a few months later I packed up my whole life and moved up to Auckland. In the last 4 years together, we have done a lot of international travel, bought our first home and adopted a puppy!Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy KateCategories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy KateCategories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

When we first started planning the wedding, I had no idea what colours I wanted or what kind of theme we should go for. However, after meeting our amazing florist Naomi from Leaf and Honey she gave us some amazing new ideas which we absolutely loved! Her style is unreal so of course we went with her suggestions. We settled on a colour scheme of stunning earthy tones (muted greys, light blues, baby pinks etc) which turned out incredible. Naomi and her team designed how the tables would look, and she bought in her own candles and vases etc. My favourite details was hands down the florals. We had a massive fireplace behind the bridal table and this was draped in flowers and greenery, it looked absolutely insane! The best thing was Naomi and her team decorated the whole space and we 100% trusted her judgement so was happy for them to come in and do their thing. It was the most amazing thing not knowing how it was going to look, and walking into the venue and seeing it all for the first time. I was completely blown away and it was a nice element of surprise considering we had everything else all planned out.Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Charlotte & Jonathan - Photography by Amy Kate

Tell us about your main outfits:

Jono was set on a navy-blue suit with dark brown shoes. We scoped out Rembrandt and the quality was amazing so we went with them. He also wanted a tow tie that was slightly different and we came across this amazing navy blue/grey paisley patterned one in the Palmerston North Rembrandt store and purchased that.

My dress was from the Jessica Bridal Couture collection. I had actually picked out a different dress from the same collection, however a couple of weeks later my friend and I were at the bridal show and Jessica Bridal had their new collection on show and I saw this other dress on display and instantly fell in love – it was exactly what I had been looking for but I didn’t think it existed. They told me to come in for a fitting the following weekend, and once I tried it on I had to have it! The dress is completely beaded, has a plunge neckline and back, but was also pretty comfortable which was key for me.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

I actually didn’t realise until the wedding day and I was walking down the aisle, but the Extravaganza gypsy fair had rolled in the night before and had set up in the field next to our venue. After dinner, Amy our photographer came over to Jono and I and asked if we wanted to crash the fair and take some pictures. This was completely unplanned and was probably my favourite part of the night. We ventured across the field and had the whole fair to ourselves! Amy took some amazing shots, but it also gave Jono and I a chance to have a 10-minute breather to soak it all in and have some time by ourselves.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

A happy bride and groom makes for a great day! If you delegate jobs, accept that a few things may not go to plan, trust that your vendors are working around the clock to make your day that much more special and stay relaxed, you will have the best day ever!

It all goes by so fast and you’re constantly caught up talking to all your guests, so I would highly recommend planning to take perhaps 10 minutes after dinner to do a sunset shoot or just go for a walk with your new husband/wife to have a bit of down time and really take in the moment.
