We met four years ago at the Golden Sheaf Hotel in Sydney. I’m a Melbourne girl, but was in Sydney for work. Chris was on a typical Saturday night out with his brother, and managed to smoothly and swiftly get my number. The rest is history!
We love the same things – travel, food and wine – but above all things we love to laugh. We laugh constantly when we’re together, and it makes every day special and fun.
Chris proposed at Lake Como, at a beautiful old hotel called Villa D’este. I’d always dreamed of visiting this part of Italy.
Our wedding day was the most incredible day of our lives. We had a week of celebrations with friends and family who had travelled from interstate and overseas.
Surprisingly, most things went to plan, though we made the mistake of having a small girls/guys night two nights before the big day, which severely affected our ability to get last minute things done the day before our wedding!
We always wanted to have our wedding in the Yarra Valley, as it’s such a beautiful part of the world and it’s where I grew up, not to mention the amazing restaurants and wineries that are all around. We looked at a quite a few venues, but Stones was the standout and it ended up being an easy choice.
The style of the wedding was semi-formal meets country-chic. I was lucky enough to be able to wear a one-of-a-kind J’aton Couture wedding gown – my favourite Australian designers.
We were also fortunate to have our wedding cake designed and baked by my step-grandmother Pam. It was absolutely delicious and according to Pam had taken months to make – and had a good soaking of brandy!
And our MC’s rendition of Elvis’s ‘Love Me Tender’ sung as ‘Love Fi Tender’ brought the house down.
