Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
Gabby works at a Rural Bank and Brock is a farmer. They’ve been together for five years and their engagement was just over 12 months.
Their proposal story: “We were away camping over new years 2016 with a few of our closest friends, I couldn’t stand Brock at the time leading up to midnight as he was being unusually annoying counting down every minute & I couldn’t understand why!!”
– “Marriage to us is a relationship filled with trust, love, fun, laughter & companionship”.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
The property we held our reception at is owned by a very good friend of ours, its always had the ability to take my breath away at sunset. The Grampians are always amazing but this property is extremely close & surrounded by untouched natural beauty.
The arbour at the end of our isle was created by our groomsmen & my father in law, Brock & I selected the three logs from the reception venue the day before & the boys took it from there.
The Tipi’s were absolutely breathtaking, especially when the sun went down. Definitely my favourite thing at the reception!
We were aiming for a very relaxed vibe. Our family & friends are all crazy (as are we) & we wanted to hold a wedding with no time restrictions, rules or boring traditions! We tried to think of everything for our guests that would encourage them to stay & party through to the A.M with us.
Tell us about your main outfits:
I LOVED my dress!! I had done a lot of research after we got engaged & found Blinova on a website called Still White. The site helps brides sell on their loved dresses. I was scouting for a Pallas Couture dress actually but then found Olga’s beautiful work & decided to go down & try a sample dress she had listed. Unfortunately it didn’t fit but Olga offered to make me a dress from scratch. She did an absolutely splendid job & I will treasure the dress forever. I literally never tried on another dress, my first dress was the dress, which was great.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
My favourite moment from the day would easily be Brock spinning me around in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by our guests chanting “The Horse’s”. Closely followed by my nephew stealing all hearts when he confidently delivered our rings to the celebrant during the ceremony.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
A stack of people kept telling me that “if anything goes wrong you will be the only one who knows” & that is the most relevant piece of advice to receive.
Also, as much as Brock seemed grumpy at the time about having very, very minimal involvement in organising the wedding, I found being selective as to what I asked for Brock’s help with was one the best decisions I made!! It saved a lot of arguments & he loved the entire day/night. I know what he loves & what he hates, so I knew he would love the things I chose.
