Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
We’re both pretty easy going, down to earth people. A little bit nerdy, enjoy spending time with our friends and our dog Harvey.
Ryan studies psychology at uni and works in human resources, while Scott is the creative one and works in multimedia creating animation and design work to facilitate learning. He also spends his time tending to his garden. We’ve been together for over 13 years, not really sure what makes us unique, but we just compliment each other in so many ways and make each other better people. Most importantly, we have a lot of fun, love hanging out, make each other laugh all the time.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We got married in Tasmania in the Huon Valley area in an Apple Shed. We have close family friends down there and just love the area. The day was honestly just the best. We stayed together the night before in a farm house that we had rented and started the day by having breakfast with some close friends. We decided to spend the whole day with just the two of us, plus our photographer for a period of time.
The ceremony and reception were both at the Apple Shed and was perfect. We went with minimal styling, just relying on the genuine aesthetic of the shed and also the moodiness of Tasmania. The idea was to be pretty simple, rustic and natural.
We particularly loved how the Apple Shed looked inside with the two long tables, the little flourishes of colour with the flowers, and the amazing apple pie on display instead of having a cake.
Tell us about your main outfits:
This is the one area where we splurged a little, getting custom made suits by Black Jacket Suiting. We went for different styles and colours to each other, but tied it in by wearing the same colour burgundy tie, which we decided would be a colour theme with the flowers also.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
We absolutely loved the speeches from our beloved family and friends. The food done by the venue was mind blowing and looked the part also, all made from locally sourced ingredients. It was also really important to us that people got up and danced the night away, so our DJ was absolutely amazing and it meant so much to us that everyone got involved.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Just always listen to each other, challenge each other, and be there for each other. When it comes to getting married and the wedding, always remember why you’re doing it and what is going to matter at the end of the day.
