Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We are Brandon, a Site Manager/Builder, and Rebecca, an Executive Assistant. We also have our wee 3-year-old pup Nelly in our family. She is a mini Australian Shepherd with maximum energy and keeps us busy, alongside supporting the NRL Warriors, lots of family time, and endless house projects!
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We both met each other when we were in High School—high school sweethearts, you could say. Brandon will tell you that he first met me playing Saturday sports at the local netball courts—maybe it was love at first sight—ha!
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
I think we just knew – a sprinkle of love and aligned values, and we had been inseparable since our teens.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
We were in Noosa with all of Brandon’s family to celebrate his eldest brother’s 40th birthday; most travelled from New Zealand. There were 12 adults, 9 kids, and 1 great-grandchild all together for the celebration holiday. I had organised a family photo shoot to capture a special time with the family together down at Laguna Grove beach, and when we were called on for our smaller family photo of just Brandon and me, Brandon got down on one knee and popped the question – of course, I said yes! It was such a special moment with all his family to be a part of and to celebrate.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
The bridal dress, the groom’s custom suit were key pieces we both wanted to be happy and comfortable with on the day. Brandon wanted a classic white dinner jacket, and nothing was out there in Retail, which we found suitable, so we went with a custom option from Working Style, who nailed it! The noir marquee from Twelve Tables was such a stunning feature piece and made such an impact at our reception. The infinity lawn, deck and reception spaces we had at The Glasshouse were already so beautiful, and these pieces just helped amplify the beautiful simplicity of the venue.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
On the Friday pack-in day, it was such a sunny day that I actually managed to get pretty sunburnt! Dani, my makeup artist, did a good job of hiding it – should have worn a hat! Then on the opposite, it absolutely bucketed down with rain at about 11 pm that Friday night, so you could imagine the stressful thoughts going through my head as I was trying to get to sleep the night before the wedding. The sun was shining beautifully in the morning with a nice cloud to keep everyone cool before they burned off 1 hour before the ceremony, and we had the most amazing blue skies as our ceremony backdrop.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Mum gave me her great-grandmother’s ring to wear as my “something borrowed”, and Brandon wore custom engraved gold cufflinks, which will serve as an item that holds a special memory and can be passed down in the time to come.
