Rebecca wanted an authentic location of spontaneous beauty that would host a party until the morning.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We work in Tec, and we love all kinds of sports! We are super sporty and have played many sports. In fact this was a theme in our wedding weekend!
The tug-of-war was fun.
We love nature, our honeymoon was in Tanzania and Brazil.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We both felt a connection from the beginning. I’m Italian and moved to Paris to finish my university studies. There we met. He was very shy and would never make the first step, so I did. We went to drink something together, and the rest is history. We were never separated.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
When you know.. I have never felt like I am with him.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).
The key word: movement, spontaneity, veracity. Rebecca wanted an authentic location of spontaneous beauty that would host a party until the morning. Villa la Selva (@villalaselva) proposed the appearance of a house, warm and welcoming. The first supplier who helped us realise our concept was Chloe (@by.chloe.louise.art). Chloe created the designs, which we then reproduced on the invitations and on the ceramic plates. A common thread throughout the event is memories and elements of Rebecca and Ernest’s love story. The ceramic plates were made in Palermo, hand-painted following Chloe’s designs by Antonio (@antoniofratantoni), a young craftsman working at the family workshop. Each underplate was given as a gift to the guests.
What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).
The flower arrangements were made by @wildflowers.weddings with flowers from their own crops. We reduced the use of cut flowers and the flowers used had not been sprayed with pesticides.
Rebecca wanted an elegant, sustainable wedding that engaged the five senses. No ostentation of kilograms of flowers on the tables, but just the right amount, vases with flowers and stones to remind us of the earth.
The menu was based on simple recipes such as pasta and Tuscan pici with a delicious meat sauce. The tableau was made with fruit, washed and arranged on a table. The guests liked the idea, and the children ate a lot of the fruit.
What did you enjoy most about the planning process and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?
Our biggest tip is to hire a wedding planner with whom you connect and who shares your vision. Trust their knowledge and follow them when it comes to suggestions on suppliers. Our planner’s input made our wedding a perfect experience, from planning to execution.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
As for my dresses, I never thought of wearing a traditional wedding dress. Danielle Frankel is a modern bridal designer known for her minimalist and romantic wedding dresses that focus on unique construction and exquisite tailoring. I fell in love with my dress the moment I put it on.
What was one, or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).
The welcome dinner was pretty unique! We celebrated in a small village near our wedding location. We had everyone in the village square available. We had a great time, danced and laughed with all our friends and family. It was beautiful.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
In the middle of the ceremony, rain came down and forced us to interrupt the celebration. Luckily, it only lasted half an hour.
