Rebecca + Milo by Paul & Nanda

We wanted it to feel chilled and comfortable yet special and magical.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We live in Stamford with our two cats, Reggie and Roxy. Milo works for a water company and Rebecca works in marketing. In our spare time, we love to get outside and go on walks locally and also further afield such as the Lake District and Peak District. After a long walk, our favourite thing to do is to stop off at a pub for a pint or two of Guinness!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met as freshers as Cardiff University. Milo lived in the flat above me and quickly became friends. We stayed friends for the first year and, along with a wider group of friends, moved into a house all together in second year which is when, a year and a half after first meeting, we got together on the classy Cardiff SU dance floor. And the rest is history…

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

I think because we’d known each other for a long time before getting together, we’d seen each other at our best and (more importantly!) worst, so knew and trusted one another so much. Starting out as friends too really helped as we had such a strong base, it never felt like hard work, we just always felt so comfortable around each other and pretty quickly knew we wanted to be together forever.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour pale es etc.).

Lots of vibrant, joyful colour. Wild, colourful and abundant florals. We wanted it to feel chilled and comfortable yet special and magical.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

We loved that our venue was pretty much white everywhere inside that felt quite modern but mixed with beautiful architecture and character of the property. It meant the colours of the florals and outfits really popped which we loved. Also the sun came out on the big day and the setting of the venue is just absolutely stunning with the trees and fields that surround it, it had such a lovely, homely atmosphere that felt extremely special on the day.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

Food tasting and choosing the music we enjoyed! Our top tip would be to remember this is your day, make sure you do things how you want, not other people! It’s hard when you want to please everyone but ultimately this day is about you two and so you should do it how you want.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

I wanted something comfortable but different and fell in love with this two piece Watters dress with a dropped waist which I hadn’t seen/tried before. I loved how it moved and didn’t expect to like a strapless dress but I felt so much freer than some of the other dresses I’d tried. The veil just topped it all off with the ruffles which I loved to add more drama and movement to the outfit.

What was one, or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

Photography was massively important to us, to spend so much on the day we wanted to make sure it was captured in the way we wanted to remember forever. As soon as we saw Paul & Nanda’s work on Instagram, we knew they were for us. And secondly wine, we made sure to stock up on enough ‘chicken wine’ to keep everyone merry!
