Réminiscence by Elisa Ness

Elisa Ness: A Beautiful Sense of Nostalgia

There is something lovely about a wedding dress that feels as though it carries a little history, even when it is entirely new. That sentiment sits at the heart of Réminiscence, the 2027 bridal collection from French couture house Elisa Ness. A thoughtful exploration of memory, femininity and the beauty of things past, the collection takes familiar bridal details and gives them a fresh perspective, with some particularly beautiful results.

Founded in 2017 by mother and daughter Fatima Usta and Melissa, Elisa Ness has an interesting story of its own. Born in the Black Sea region of northern Turkey, Fatima brings her cultural heritage and experiences of travel to the house’s creative identity. Together, the pair have developed their vision of bridal couture from their atelier in Colmar, France. There is something rather fitting about this shared history informing a collection concerned with the emotional connection we have to the past.

What makes Réminiscence interesting is that it doesn’t attempt to recreate a particular era. Instead, the designers borrow elements of traditional bridal dressing and reinterpret them through silhouette, texture and proportion. The result feels nostalgic without becoming overly sentimental. There are delicate veils, intricate surface details and softly gathered fabrics, but also beautifully clean lines and more directional pieces that introduce a welcome sense of contrast.

The individual looks reveal just how varied this approach can be. Neroli is particularly striking, with its strapless, floral-patterned silhouette and wonderfully exaggerated sleeves that create an almost architectural shape. Jeanne takes a different direction, combining a slender, textured gown with generous off-the-shoulder sleeves and an open back. Then there is Daphne, all softness and movement, with a plunging neckline, delicate lace cuffs and a fluid skirt. Each has a distinct personality, yet they sit comfortably within the same collection.

I also love the quieter, less conventional moments. Alua introduces a beautifully understated bridal trouser look, with a softly draped neckline and wide-leg silhouette. Ilya pairs a tailored jacket with a wonderfully textured skirt, while Melia’s asymmetric draping offers something altogether more relaxed and contemporary. These are pieces that feel especially relevant to the way women approach wedding dressing today, choosing what feels personal rather than necessarily following convention.

Photographed by Felicia Sisco at Château Burrus, the collection is presented with a sense of intimacy. Soft natural light, historic interiors and considered styling allow the details to speak for themselves. There is a lovely dialogue between the old-world setting and the more contemporary silhouettes.

Perhaps that is the real appeal of Réminiscence. Rather than asking a bride to dress like someone from another time, Elisa Ness invites her to take something beautiful from the past and make it entirely her own.
