Roshell + Marco by Paulina Weddings

We’re the quintessential love story of 21st-century dating technology. The first time I laid eyes on her, it felt like a scene straight out of a movie.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Roshell: I am a Brand manager for a lifestyle apparel brand. I thrive on creating/supporting positive experiences for anyone on my team or whom I get the opportunity to work or interact with. I’m a comedian of sorts, I usually can’t leave a conversation without getting a joke in, so I try not to take myself too seriously. I also love anything that involves music, concerts, festivals, and dancing!

Marco: I wear two hats—I am an architect and architectural photographer. Design is pretty much my jam. And when I’m not sketching or snapping photos, I’m in my tinkering zone, dreaming up ideas that might, just might, change the world someday. I hope one of those ideas takes flight before I retire!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Roshell: We met the good old-fashioned way on a dating app. When I stumbled upon Marcos’ profile, I had my doubts because It seemed almost too good to be true like he had a professional matchmaker curate his profile: a photo with his mom (check), one cuddling his dog (check), another having a blast with friends (check), and even a cool shot on a motorcycle – the list went on and on. And did I mention how incredibly handsome he looked? I swiped right mostly because I couldn’t resist the urge to find out if this guy was for real. Turns out he was!

Marco: We’re the quintessential love story of 21st-century dating technology. The first time I laid eyes on her, it felt like a scene straight out of a movie. Deep down, I just knew she was “the one.” The universe must’ve been on my side because, lucky for me, we matched. The rest of it was all about trying to convince her to go out with me…

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

Roshell: You know, there wasn’t one single “aha” moment; it was more of a gradual realization. It happened bit by bit as we shared life’s experiences together. I just couldn’t ignore how incredible I felt around this person, the way we handled both the tough and easy stuff together. I really fell in love with who he is. That’s when I truly knew that this was the person I wanted to spend my life with.

Marco: For me, it was love at first sight. I had always dreamt of a partner like her, and beyond her stunning looks, I could sense an incredible, loving soul. I was cooked from the get-go.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Marco: On a picturesque snowy day in NYC, I couldn’t help but think that this was the perfect place to propose. After all, this was the city where our paths first crossed and where we fell deeply in love. And what could be more enchanting than Central Park blanketed in snow? I shared my wish to experience Central Park in its winter glory, but she wasn’t as enthusiastic. It took some persuasion, but eventually, she agreed. Upon arriving, we made our way to “our spot”, a specific place we often visit in the summertime. With the backdrop of falling snowflakes, I got down on one knee. The moment was pure magic. Tears filled her eyes as she said yes. To celebrate, we enjoyed a nice walk in the snow-covered park, followed by a cozy lunch together.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
Roshell: Our wedding vision was all about creating an intimate, warm, and effortlessly charming atmosphere, despite all the planning involved. Think of it as an intimate dinner party, that was the essence of our dream. With just 45 of our closest loved ones, every guest was not just an attendee but an integral part of no our story it truly felt like a gathering of our nearest and dearest.
We had two key priorities. Firstly, choosing Greece as our wedding destination was a no-brainer; it’s our happy place, and the stunning scenery perfectly matched our vision. Secondly, to maintain that sense of effortlessness, we selected a palette of warmer tones for the ceremony, blending neutrals, burnt oranges, and muted pinks. While we understand the importance of details, we didn’t want to get bogged down in the minutiae. Our goal was to infuse a sense of ease into the planning process, aligning with the energy we wanted to radiate throughout our special day.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Marco: When Roshell found the dress she was most happy with, we both agreed that would be the item we would splurge on, I figured it was a great start to the “ happy wife happy life mantra.”

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Roshell: Oh yesss!! Our wedding day was filled with moments like that! One that we still laugh about is when I was fashionably late to walk down the aisle. Honestly, I can’t even pinpoint why; maybe it was getting lost in the whirlwind of getting ready with my mom and maid of honor. But on the way to our ceremony, I realized I’d left Marco’s wedding ring back at our villa. So, as our officiant said, “Roshell, you may place the ring on Marcos’ finger,” I had to admit lovingly to him (and everyone else) that I’d, well, forgotten it.
After our wedding, my lovely friend Farrah saved the evening and went back to our villa to retrieve the ring so we ended up having a funny redo of our ring exchange at our after-party. So while it was nothing short of stressful in the moment, our after-party footage is so fun to watch and it’s one of those cherished stories that we now fondly share and laugh about!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Roshell: I stumbled upon my dress during my second shopping trip. ( literally stumbled, I tripped over a mannequin that was wearing it! ) and had to try it on. It was the fourth dress I tried on that day, and it was funny because it was nothing like what I originally had in mind. But it felt unique and a little ethereal, and the moment I slipped into that dress, I knew it was the one. What made it even more special was the connection I shared with my bridal stylist. Somehow, we started candidly discussing our struggles with endometriosis and our past surgeries – something we both had in common. It led to a heartfelt moment where my mom and best friend joined in, and we all shared a really emotional experience together. It made finding the dress even more meaningful.
Marco: Initially, I had my mind set on a traditional dark blue suit. However, when Roshell and I visited the suit shop, she suggested something more distinctive. To my surprise, she picked out a suit I would’ve never considered. Yet, I ended up choosing that very one. It fit flawlessly, making me feel at my absolute best. I was truly grateful she was with me that day…
