Saben AW26

A season of quiet luxury, grounded in restraint and thoughtful design.

SABEN’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, REVERIE, arrives as a thoughtful pause in a season often defined by pace. Rooted in the idea of “Witherwill”, the quiet longing to step back from the constant churn of modern life, the collection proposes something deceptively simple: bags designed for a slower, more intentional way of moving through the world.

At its heart, REVERIE reflects a collective desire to retreat, recalibrate, and reconnect. The concept of Witherwill guided the development of the collection, shaping both its aesthetic and its mood. Rather than excess or spectacle, SABEN leans into restraint, offering pieces that feel grounded, quietly confident, and attuned to the rhythms of everyday life.

The campaign, photographed by Australian photographer Georges Antoni, mirrors this sensibility. Shot in expansive natural landscapes, with flowing dresses moving softly against wide horizons, the imagery feels deliberately unhurried. There are no urgent calls to action here, only space, light, and the suggestion that presence itself can be powerful.

The colour palette follows suit, drawing from nature’s quieter tones. Deep Espresso provides a rich, grounding base, balanced by the warmth of Light Toffee and the soft brightness of Vanilla. A kelp-toned Hunter Green introduces a deeper connection to the natural world, anchoring the collection in hues that feel both familiar and quietly luxurious.

REVERIE introduces four new silhouettes. Isla offers a structured box bag designed to bring elegant order to daily essentials. Marti, a contemporary bowler shape, balances heritage craftsmanship with a modern ease. Kip arrives generously sized, accommodating the realities of busy days without feeling cumbersome, while Haven nods to the 1990s with a compact shoulder silhouette designed for moments when simplicity feels most appealing.

Alongside these new additions, SABEN revisits some of its most recognisable styles. Matilda returns with a refined dipped chain detail, while the iconic Coco showcases one of the collection’s most notable fabrications. A glossy patent-dipped leather introduces a striking ombré effect, where supple nappa transitions into a high-shine patent finish. The technique creates a subtle visual gradient that echoes the collection’s broader narrative of movement between where we are and where we hope to be.

Hardware details also evolve this season, with SABEN’s signature chunky chain reimagined in a tonal dipped finish that complements the leather rather than contrasting it. The result feels cohesive and considered, aligning with the brand’s reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

Beyond aesthetics, SABEN continues to deepen its commitment to responsible production. The brand is now officially B Corp certified, a recognition that formalises values founder and CEO Roanne Jacobson says have long shaped the company’s approach. Central to this certification is SABEN’s partnership with the Leather Working Group, sourcing top grain leather exclusively from Gold Standard certified tanneries to reduce the environmental impact traditionally associated with leather production.

The REVERIE collection offers a wardrobe of pieces designed not simply to carry belongings, but to move alongside the rhythms of real life.

The season also coincides with a new chapter for the brand’s retail presence. SABEN’s Ponsonby flagship at 97 Ponsonby Road has recently undergone a thoughtful refit, creating a calm, welcoming space that reflects the same sense of intentional design found within the collection itself. Developed in collaboration with Auckland studio Wonder Group, the store features bespoke wood finishes, a hand-tiled centre cabinet, and brass hooks lining the walls in a walk-in wardrobe style inspired by founder Roanne Jacobson’s grandmother, Sarah Saben. The interior is finished in Lucky Thing, a bespoke pink created with New Zealand paint company AALTO, drawing on SABEN’s signature Dusky Rose hue and bringing warmth and personality to one of Ponsonby Road’s most recognisable fashion destinations.
