Our wedding took place on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice, a day I lovingly described to friends as ‘summer solstice chic.’
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We’re a couple who live in the North East of England, we both share a love for exploring new places, whether its discovering hidden gems in our local area or travelling around the world. Our shared interests include enjoying good food, spending time outdoors, and making memories with our friends and family.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We first met online, thanks to Instagram. Lee slid into Sallie’s DMs, and from that moment, everything just clicked. After chatting for a while, we decided to meet up for a drink, and that first date turned out to be the start of something truly special. Fast forward eight years, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
We realised that we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together as we moved around the UK, from Manchester, Coventry to the North East. No matter where we lived, the sense of home was always with each other.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
Yes, there was a proposal, and it was so romantic. It happened in a rose garden in Rome at sunset. We were strolling through the garden when I turned around and saw Lee down on one knee, and then he asked the question. It was a moment of pure happiness. I was completely taken by surprise, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Lee spoke with my mom about using my Nan’s ring; he even altered it to my size.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.
Our wedding took place on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice, a day I lovingly described to friends as ‘summer solstice chic.’ We envisioned a day that was both effortlessly elegant and deeply relaxed, with our top priority being that everyone—ourselves included—simply had a wonderful time.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
We allocated most of our budget to our floral displays. Given the minimalist style of our wedding venue, we knew the florals needed to make a bold, mid-summer statement.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
Nothing at all; it went perfectly. Even if something were to happen, we knew it was our wedding day, and nothing else really mattered.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
There are no unique stories, but I was so glad I could find a dress from Mrs W, a North East-based bridal boutique in Whitely Bay.
