Sally + Christian by Maja Tsolo

The print wedding of Sally + Christian is a summer wedding with a tasteful, comfortable, warm and magical vibe.

Ray —— I own a furniture company that sells to interior designers in the US. Sally does our sales and marketing, and tutors high school students. We met on a dating app. Our first date was at a sushi restaurant. My first impression of Sally wasn’t good as she was 1.5 hours late, but then we just clicked and it was the easiest conversation I’d ever had. The chemistry and connection was there. Our relationship was a slow burn, because I needed to travel to the Philippines for work constantly so I was only in New York every few months.

We had five dates in a year, but realised we felt a deep connection to each other. Sally’s proposal checklist was for a view of the New York skyline and for family to celebrate with us, so I proposed in a hotel suite in Brooklyn with a view of the New York skyline, and our families.

Sally —— Our guests were all travelling far for the wedding, so I wanted to make sure the vibe was tasteful, comfortable, warm and magical, and to flow seamlessly with the natural beauty of our venue in Tuscany. I was inspired by my favourite NYC restaurants and bars for our signs, menu, place cards and seating chart styles. My brother designed and drew our wedding logo, which was a pig sitting on one of our furniture company’s bestseller chairs.

The most important element for us was the food and drink. We wanted our guests to enjoy both the pacing and quality of both. Nothing was overly stressful on the day. Our wedding planner did a great job of handling anything that came up so we didn’t need to think about it.

Because ours was a summer wedding, I wanted a simple dress embellished with lace details to give it an elevated bridal look. I got a chapel veil with beautiful lace-detailed edges to match the custom lace sleeves I ordered from Etsy. The whole wedding was planned in six months so I was in a rush to buy a dress, and then changed my mind at the last minute and decided to check out one more boutique in NYC where I found the Lihi Hod dress. One thing I’ve learned about choosing a dress is to go with your gut and what you feel most comfortable with.
