Something New Socials: Redefining how wedding stories are told.
Amongst the joy and movement of a wedding day lies a collection of fleeting details that often go unnoticed. Something New Socials, a passionate content creator, was created to preserve these moments with a modern and artful approach, offering couples a perspective that feels both intimate and immediate. With a background rooted in creativity and a natural eye for storytelling, the founder has shaped a service that speaks to today’s couples seeking authenticity in the way their memories are captured.
Together Journal caught up with the founder of Something New Socials to learn more about her journey and the creative approach she brings to wedding content creation. Read more below.

Tell us about yourself and how Something New Socials began. What inspired you to focus on capturing the behind-the-scenes magic of a wedding day?
I’ve worked in marketing and content creation since 2017. In March 2024 I got married and absolutely LOVED being in the industry as a bride so I thought why not transfer my skills into the wedding industry so I could soak up all the love vibes a little longer and so Something New Socials was born! I’ve never looked back since. I freaking love what we do, it truly is one of the best jobs in the world to be able to capture someone’s wedding enabling them to relive the most important day of their lives, the very next day.
Why should couples consider hiring a wedding content creator, and how does this differ from traditional videography services?
Wedding content creation offers an authentic behind the scenes look into your special day. We deliver a curated highlight film, shorter edits and all the raw footage (videos and photos) organised into folders. Our focus is on capturing all the little moments that often get missed. Whereas traditional videography delivers a cinematic experience of your wedding often in a highlight film format. Because of the large file sizes, it is unlikely that you will receive all the raw footage from a videographer. They are both very different ways of capturing a wedding, each with their own unique features! What is right for you will depend on how you want your special day captured.

What sets your approach to wedding content creation apart from others in the industry?
Having such an extensive background in the marketing and content creation space means I am approaching your wedding content with a specialised eye for creativity. At Something New Socials, we are also really proud of our curated highlight films as we’ve noticed most creators on the market don’t offer these, instead the majority offer only shorter edits (30-60 seconds). Our highlight films range from 1 minute to 3 minutes depending on the package you choose.
How do you ensure that each couple’s content feels unique, personal, and perfectly aligned with their style and vision?
We meet with our couples 4-6 weeks out to confirm the finer details of their day and to get an understanding on what style of content they want. We endeavour to ensure each wedding captured is unique to the couple – whether that’s through music, fun tiktok videos or particular key moments captured.

You deliver beautifully shot, ready-to-share memories within just 24 hours. How does giving couples such an immediate glimpse into their day change the way they experience their wedding?
Your wedding day goes so fast! You blink and it’s over. Being able to deliver content to our couples the very next day is truly one of the best parts of the job because they get to relive it and cry all over again. With traditional wedding videography you’re waiting at least 6-8 weeks so it’s really special for us to deliver so quickly.
What inspires your creative process, both in how you capture moments and in how you tell a couple’s story?
We’re big fans of pinterest, and you can find us constantly scrolling for content ideas! Honestly though, we lean on the beauty of the couples’ love story, allowing that to inspire how we capture their day.

Your work feels both effortless and deeply connected. How do you manage to blend into the day so seamlessly while still capturing every heartfelt detail?
We are literal flies on the wall! We are right next to the bride and groom capturing all the little moments but you will barely notice we are there. We work seamlessly with other vendors, and often shadow the photographer to ensure we don’t get in their way.
Are there any dream locations or destinations you hope to work in over the coming years?
Oh, great question! We’ve recently captured a wedding at Mudbrick on Waiheke which was a dream venue for sure. If we had to pick another location, probably Boomrock in Wellington, we’d love to capture those stunnings vistas of the Cook Strait and the South Island.

Do you have a bucket list wedding style, cultural tradition, or setting you’d love to capture through your lens?
We would absolutely love to do a multi-day Indian wedding!
For couples who love the idea of a wedding content creator but aren’t quite sure if it’s right for them, what advice would you offer to help them decide?
If you’re after a unique way to capture your wedding, we’re your creators! We exist to complement both traditional photography and videography. Having us at your wedding also means your friends and family can put their phones away as that’s our job! While all of our content is optimised for social media sharing, most of our couples don’t post, and instead use our content to share privately between their loved ones. Something New Socials is a nationwide team of content creators who are passionate about documenting love stories in a fresh and authentic way.
